"Ray gave us a competitive quote and was very responsive. This wasn’t an emergency, so he gave us a 2-4 week window. However, something came up and he was able to fit us in within a week. He and his crew showed up on time and worked efficiently. The tree was in a tricky location - on a slope between our house and the neighbor’s landscaping. The guys took it down without disturbing anything. Our neighbor even commented on how well they cleaned up. Very happy with the service and would highly recommend."

"Ryan did an excellent job trimming my shrubs, discarding some trees, uprooting a magnolia tree that was threatening the foundation of my home and making my landscape look so much better! He also went above and beyond, showing professionalism, being very helpful and kind. I highly recommend him!"

"Devin was very responsive when I called and asked for a quote for a tree that was close to our house. I'd heard he was good with that type of work and when he came out and went over the job with me he was very knowledgeable, and said he had a great crew. That left me very comfortable with the work he planned to do. During the job they were surprisingly quick with the removal and no debris was left behind. It was a fantastic experience and I'm glad I called him to do the work."

"Greiner Scapes did an awesome job on the two large trees in our yard that desperately needed pruning. Maclaine (owner) was amazing to work with. Kind, responsive, reliable and very fair pricing. It is apparent he is very knowledgeable and skilled in his field. Truly just an all around genuine person and I am so happy to support and promote this new small business. I was not only impressed with his work, but also, the immaculate clean up of our yard after. We had a lot that needed done, so naturally lots of leaves and branches left behind, but after he and his crew were done with clean up, it was like no one had ever been here. I will / already have recommended this business to friends and family and will absolutely use them in the future for additional needs. Thank you Greiner Scapes !"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

A tree can grow back from its stump, but full regrowth is unlikely (especially for more stubborn conifer trees). Instead, trees are more likely to send up a number of shoots from the dead stump, which will try to develop into primary stems over time. In other words, it will start to look increasingly bushy. The goal of killing and drying out a tree stump is to prevent that from happening, as well as make the stump easier to completely remove.

Not every arborist climbs trees, but most will do so if that’s the best method for assessing or treating a tree. Arborists have a variety of tree climbing gear and safety equipment to choose from when climbing trees. Consult your local arborist about their tree-climbing plan if your service requires that type of task.

Dutch elm disease can’t harm humans. In fact, according to Cal Fire, bark beetles aren’t even typically dangerous to trees unless that tree is already weakened. The problem comes when Dutch elm disease kills a tree. That tree is more at risk of falling and catching fire, which can pose a serious threat.

No, you should never top maple trees. Topping injures the tree and leads to the rapid growth of a weak canopy, which can be hazardous to rooftops and utility lines. Removing the crown can also leave the interior bark vulnerable to sun damage, leading to insects and disease. A topped tree can also reduce property value and permanently damage the appearance of a tree.

You can use the formula mentioned earlier to calculate the depth of tree roots. Each inch of width of a tree trunk translates to six inches of depth within the root system. Large trees extend anywhere from 2 to 6 feet into the ground, with some magnificent specimens going even deeper.
