"Kevin was a pleasure to work with. He showed professionalism in the quality of his work and interactions with his customers. I love the bathroom, which adjoins my bedroom. I chose the materials and colors that I like and am happy with the result. I like the framewell glass shower door that he installed. I bought most of the supplies. He gutted the whole bathroom and replaced everything. I still admire the tiles that he installed on the walls (floor to ceiling) and floors-- the precision.,cleanliness, and design. He installed everything and although he worked alone, he finished the job on schedule. Watching him, I wondered how he was able to carry those heavy pieces all by himself, Kevin explained what he was doing and what would be the next steps, He answered questions respectfully. He is quiet and focuses on his work. He showed up on time for appointments and work schedule, gave me some flexible time when I needed it. He was busy and I had to wait for several weeks after signing the contract. He seems to be in high demand among people who know about him and his work. He is very meticulous and thorough and maintained his working place clean and tidy. No damages anywhere in my house, although he had to travel back and forth from downstairs where his big supplies where and to the upper floor, walk through the bedroom and to the bathroom in progress. I was afraid that I could not be able to use my bedroom for three weeks. He said, "no worries. I make a trail from the bathroom to downstairs." And that was what exactly happened. The trail was clean and even covered by a floor protector. No hidden cost; everything was transparent. I highly recommend Kevin for his professionalism and honesty and quality of his work and would hire him again. My only concern for my situation would be the amount of deposit that I had to put down to hold my place in his schedule, 2-3 months out. But if you have that kind of money to deposit and also wait, the result is worth it. It was worth to me for this extensive bath remodel project."

Closets questions, answered by experts

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.

Plywood, MDF (medium-density fiberboard), and solid wood are all popular options for closet shelving. Plywood and solid wood are sturdy and ideal for extended shelves or heavy items. MDF is a budget-friendly choice for light to moderate storage, but it can sag under heavy weight if not adequately supported. Wire shelving is another alternative that allows airflow, making it especially useful in humid spaces such as laundry rooms or basements.

Closet remodels can add a significant element of luxury to your home and depending on how you remodel, a lot of functionality that may have been missing. People underestimate how much they use their closet and one that lacks storage space or just becomes a room full of random items can benefit from a remodel in almost all cases. There's a vast range of pricing for closet remodels—they aren't all expensive.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.

If you have a bathroom closet with movable shelves, you can place them at virtually any spacing that works for you. Useful measurements between shelves in the working, or middle, section can be 10 to 16 inches for towels or linens. Lower or higher shelving could be up to 24 inches between shelves to store lesser-used or bulky items or boxes.
