This is by far the safest way to ship. Our interstate rates are per 24ft moving van that holds up to 8,500lbs or 1400CuFt. Some customers require one truck and some require more. One truck holds the average 1800SqFt.

"Three employees were on site. Yet, one employee decided to move a 76” glass door wall unit himself. He dropped the piece off of the lift. Badly damaged. It would cost a conservative estimate of $3000 to replace. We found a reputable furniture restoration person to restore the piece. $750. The General Manager accused us of extortion because we wanted the full $750. He said that we should have bought the insurance for an additional $200 with a deductible. How is this fair when their employee was at fault?? We left a message with VP Adam in corporate. We were told that he would return our call in 48 hours. Still no call after 9 days ago & additional phone calls."

You should hire professional movers for moves that seem too daunting or dangerous to handle on your own. The larger your home and the longer the distance, the more likely you are to need professional help with your move. Moving by yourself requires significant planning and time, and hiring a professional moving service can ease some of the burden by taking the hardest (and heaviest) tasks off your plate. There is also the option of a hybrid move where you only hire movers to help lift and transport heavy items to your moving vehicle.

You should always transport the washer and dryer in an upright position. If they are turned on their sides to move, it can cause damage to the internal parts, such as the suspension and drums. Don’t attempt to move a washer or dryer to a new location if it’s sitting on its side.

Tipping movers isn’t required, and most professional movers won’t expect it, but it’s a nice gesture to show your appreciation for the care they put into keeping your belongings and home safe. It’s best to tip each mover individually, usually around $10 each per hour. It’s a good idea to tip your movers if they took extra time to pack your belongings before moving, or if they moved specialty items, like a piano, pool table, aquariums, or vehicles.

First, snap some photos of the piano so you can prove if damage happens during the move. Second, secure the lid and wrap it in bubble wrap and furniture blankets ahead of the move (especially if movers aren’t handling this step for you). Third, if you aren’t sure about tight spaces, take measurements and check your gaps to make sure clearance won’t be an issue. On the day of the move, keep kids and pets far away from the movers and piano to avoid accidents.

Start by removing any obstacles in the moving path, such as side tables, lamps, or other furniture. If your couch has legs, unscrew them. Measure the couch and the stairway to ensure you have enough room; if it seems unlikely, examine the shape and size of the couch and decide whether it might fit better up the stairway and through doorways on its side, held diagonally, or moved in an upright position.

Consider putting the sofa on a dolly to go up the stairs. It should be able to fit upright on a standard dolly with wheels. You’ll still need to lift the dolly—with the couch on it—up the stairs, but it will reduce the physical strain. The person holding the dolly should pull the couch up, while the helper should be on the other side, keeping the couch secure and steady.

If you don’t have a dolly, the person in front should lift the couch slightly higher than the person in the back to create more stability. The person in the back should also be the stronger mover, as most of the weight will be distributed there.
