"Highly recommend! Great customer service and reasonable costs. I am a new homeowner and didn t know much about pest control. So when I moved into a wooded area, we had a ton of big spiders around our front door and throughout the house. I looked up What s Bugging You on Home Advisor and received a call and a quote very quickly - we were able to schedule an appt right away. The service works very well - we have little to no spiders or bugs, or they are dead if I do see them. Stephen is very knowledgeable and provides great customer service. We have regular appts but if I need additional service, he makes time right away. For the summer, we added on the flea, tick and mosquito service - also because we just got a puppy. Overall, a great value and makes me feel more comfortable in my home."

"I couldn't be happier with my experience with MosquitoNix Philadelphia! They installed a mosquito misting system in my backyard, and the difference has been incredible. I can finally relax and enjoy my outdoor seating area without constantly worrying about mosquito and bug bites. The installation was professional, the team was friendly and knowledgeable, and the system works exactly as promised. It's completely transformed the way my family and I enjoy our backyard. I highly recommend MosquitoNix Philadelphia to anyone looking for an effective solution to mosquitoes and other annoying bugs. Thank you for the outstanding service!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Sort of. Hornets are a subsection of wasps with some unique characteristics (along with yellowjackets and similar types of insects). Hornets are generally rare in the United States, with European and Asian hornets the two notable examples.

Hornets tend to be significantly larger than wasps, often larger than one inch. They are also typically white or brown striped instead of yellow like many wasps. They tend to be one of the more aggressive types of wasps, which when combined with their size makes them a priority for homeowners.

It may be better to have a mouse in your house than a rat. Rats are larger, more aggressive, and more difficult to eradicate once settled. One rat can cause more damage than one mouse. However, both animals pose a danger in that they can spread bacteria and contaminate food, so you’ll want to contact an exterminator as soon as you detect an infestation of either animal.

You should never block both the top and bottom of your chimney. Proper airflow is essential because the temperature inside the chimney will still fluctuate as your house warms and cools. Moisture can build up without ventilation, leading to dampness in your walls over time. Blocking the top prevents debris and animals from entering, but the chimney still needs air circulation to avoid condensation issues. Allowing the chimney to breathe maintains the health of your home and prevents long-term damage.

While some pets, especially dogs, may chase rabbits away due to their natural hunting instincts, relying solely on pets to deter rabbits is not foolproof. Some rabbits can become accustomed to the presence of pets over time, and not all pets possess the same level of hunting inclination. What’s more, rabbits can potentially carry serious diseases like Tularemia and E. cuniculi, which they could pass to your pets.

Brown recluse spiders are most active at night. As the name “recluse” suggests, they prefer the dark, which is when they hunt small insects and other spiders. Regarding the time of year, brown recluses are more likely to be seen during warmer months, typically between March and October.
