"We had a side yard with old, brick planters and years of debris, so we called the The Junk Magician guys and they were out there clearing it all out as soon as the weather allowed. They were fast, reasonably-priced and they did a great job. What would have taken us a whole weekend and some headaches they managed to remove and clean up within hours. Thanks, guys!"

"Two guys can’t over today to remove junk that had been left by a prior owner. They arrived within the time frame I was given. It was hard work: moving big cabinets, lifting big stone planters and statues—it all looked so hard! But the guys went right to work and got everything out of the house in record time. They were respectful of our house (wiped their feet and did no damage to walls or woodwork, well groomed). All this work with not one complaint.. I even found something that I had wanted them to take but has overlooked it. With the big truck doors already shut, they just hurled the whole thing into the air and it landed right in the truck. What a grande finale!! Highly recommend."

"Ed and Dewey were fantastic. Ed responded quickly to my inquiry about removing an unused riding mower and hot tub. Had the job scheduled and done with in a day. The charge was extremely reasonable. They were on time, honest, thorough and friendly. My neighbor and I were SUPER impressed! I'd have them back again and without hesitation would recommend them to FAMILY! Thank you Ed! Thank you Dewey!"

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

On average, a garbage disposal can last anywhere from 7 to 12 years, with many models functioning well for about 10 years. With heavy usage, a motor may last a minimum of five years, while grinding plates will wear down over time. It's generally a good idea to consider a replacement if your unit is approaching the 10-year mark. Other signs that it's time for a new disposal include frequent leaks, persistent clogs, lingering odors, lack of power, or unusual noises. If your unit is not that old, it's worth investigating if a less expensive part, like a rubber seal or a loose hose, is causing the issue.

It’s one thing that helps, alongside vinegar and baking soda. Ice acts as an exfoliant, helping to lift off any bits of food stuck on the disposal blades.

On average, it takes one to four hours for a professional to install a garbage disposal. This includes removing the old unit, taking necessary measurements for positioning, removing and fitting new pipes, and installing the brand-new disposal system. If there are unforeseen issues, such as accessibility concerns, the process takes longer.

If your garbage disposal powers up and you can hear it hum, but the arms inside aren’t moving, the problem might be a stubborn clog, a build-up of grease, or a jam of the impeller plate. To troubleshoot these, ensure your unit is off and disconnected from its power source before checking inside the drain or attempting to manually rotate the impeller arms or plate from the underside of the unit. A hex wrench can help.
