Thompson Family Painting and Remodeling was born some 30 + years ago in Augusta Georgia when I began painting at Medical College of Georgia. I quickly found out that this was not just something I enjoyed, but something I excelled at. I was taught from a very early age to always do my best at whatever I did and never to walk away from a job until it was done right. And this is the philosophy I have followed throughout my career. I moved from Augusta to Tulsa to Los Angeles to Redding California. Always striving to refine my skills and take them a step further. It was in Tulsa that I began remodeling homes and doing room additions. After moving here to Pennsylvania I got the opportunity to work on the magnificent and historic Colerain Mansion in Spruce Creek. A massive home built in 1790 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior. It is currently owned by celebrated author Dorothy Gray (Gurney). And it was at the insistence of Mrs. Gurney that I started Thompson Family Painting Company. And it is my solemn vow to provide the absolute best quality at the best price and leave you more than satisfied. So whether it is a commercial or residential project, Thompson Family Painting Company is your one stop for quality, dependability, and reliability.

Furniture Refinishing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can fill rotten wood with expanding foam. You may prefer using an expanding foam treatment instead of wood filler since the latter can take a long time to dry. It may also provide an easier solution when you’re dealing with smaller gaps. If you use expanding foam, allow it to cure for about 24 hours before you sand and prime it.

Minor water damage on wood tables can be reversed fairly easily. You can remove stains and light surface damage with a sandblock, then repaint and re-varnish the wood surface. For swollen and rotten wood, you can cut away the damaged parts and use a wood filler as long as the affected area isn’t too much.

Refinishing reduces landfill waste, minimizes resource extraction impacts, and uses fewer raw materials than new installations.

If your wood furniture is sticky after already cleaning it, it’s likely from using too many polishes or waxes. You’ll need to remove some of the excess wax with a cloth and warm water mixed with dish soap. You can then reapply the wax or polish afterwards, but try to use a much smaller amount and wipe away any excess.

If the scratch is large enough that it compromises the integrity of the wood, a wood filler probably won’t be enough to fix the problem. In that case, you might need to sand and refinish the entire floor or replace a board. If you do use a filler, use one that’s appropriate for the scratch. Water-based wood fillers work for small gaps or gouges, while epoxy has added strength to fill larger scratches and gaps.
