"We had a shed pad installed for our new shed. Bob really worked to make sure we understood the different types of pads we could get as well as the ground leveling process. He was the only contractor we talked to that put the pad in the ground (excavating some dirt) so that it didn't just sit on top. As an added bonus, he swiped away a patch of really thick ivy that we've been struggling with. When scheduling the pad, he did delay the installation due to weather issues, showing real concern that if we didn't delay at least a day, the installation would be less than the professional level he likes to leave with. I left for the morning to go to work and when I came home, the pad was ready for a shed.
Bob shows a concern for his homeowner's well being in all matters and is very knowledgable. I fully recomend him to anyone seeking a similar install, and will consider Rock-a-fella's when ever I have a gravelly/patio/deck need in the future.

"They took the roof off the existing garage, set down new floor, built outside walls, strengthened garage to hold addition, shingled roof and sided. They installed new windows and as per our agreement, we are finishing the inside work. The work is top class and his workers were professional and worked from early until late each day. Very happy with work. Would highly recommend this builder. He took care of the plans and the building permit."

"The contractor communicated very well with me. He responded quickly to questions and answered them in a professional manner. He promised to start on a certain day, but torrential rain pushed that day back. He did communicate with me as this happened. He finally arrived to start the job as agreed upon and had a crew of himself and other guy and a younger guy. They worked hard and respected my property. He initially quoted 3 days to finish the job, but it took a half a day more which I had no issues with. The fence looks great and is exactly what I wanted. The two 4 foot swing gates seemed to be a challenge, however. They installed them and they were uneven and sagging. He stated that it was due to the weight and length of the gates and the fact that post had to moved in due to cement under the ground that he could not place the post where he initially wanted. I accepted that. The gates had a lot of play and then one of the gates fell from the post a day later. He said it was due to having to rip-cut the gate to make it smaller and the clips were not there. He came back out the very next day and screwed the fence to the post and also did the other side to ensure stability and no further separation. Well, 2 days later during heavy winds another section of the gate came free. He never screwed that part when he came and did the other. The contractor apologized and came out the very next morning and repaired that and the gate seems to be solid now. I purchased a post that goes into the ground after, to add stability and he voluntarily agreed to mount that for me at no additional charge. Overall, the work was done well. He just seemed to have a lot of difficulty with those large swing gates, but did everything he could and always came out the very next day to make it right. They cleaned up everything and respected my property. I would use them again and feel they gained some experience with those types of gates after a few issues. LOL. Thanks again John."

"Very well. I really admire Ken because he traveled a long, long way to do this work. He is very thorough and identified a much larger problem than the one I thought I had. Ken does nice work and sincerely tries to help. The only knock I have is that he was 2 hours late to the appointment. In fairness to him, he had to travel at least an hour to get to me and was unfamiliar with the roads, and he did keep in contact. That said, he was late starting the job."

"They were very pleasant. It was in a less than an ideal condition due to the heat. They were very knowledgeable of what was going on and everything went smoothly. They had a smile on their face by the time they were done with the work."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

A fence gate can sag for several reasons. The issue often stems from the hardware, such as damaged or bent hinges, or loose screws that can no longer support the gate's weight. The gate frame itself might also have come out of square due to failing supports. Alternatively, the problem may not be the gate but the supporting fence post, which could be leaning or out of place. In many cases, fixing a sagging gate is as simple as tightening the hinge screws or upgrading to more robust hinges.

Most people prefer to keep the fence level by “stepping” the fence when running a horizontal fence over a slope. Stepping involves raising each panel between the posts as the fence moves over changes in slope, giving the fence line the appearance of stair steps. While this may be the preferred method of running a horizontal fence up a slope, there’s nothing wrong with installing your fence so it follows the undulations in the ground instead.

Corrugated metal is a strong, long-lasting material. A corrugated metal fence will typically last several decades, and the metal panels themselves may last for 40 to 60 years. The main thing you should be concerned about is the fence posts. Wood fence posts will last about five years if you purchase them untreated or about 15 years if you treat them after installation. Keep an eye on your posts and look out for insect damage and rot.

Planting greenery on a fence can help achieve more privacy, whether it’s shrubs along a picket or chain link fence or rolls of faux greenery to help create a solid-colored backdrop beyond the fence line. You can also try adding more lattice or paneling across a fence so that there are fewer places where passing eyeballs can see in.

You can use a few different tactics to prevent your deck gate from sagging. Aside from using strong, rot-resistant woods, introducing a diagonal element—such as a tension rod or solid piece of wood to act as a brace—across the gate will offer better support. You can also use rigid joists to prevent the gate from sagging.
