"Everything was fine with Closets by Design however we had a hiccup on installation since the floors in the house had to be replaced due to a manufacturers error and that was scheduled to coincide with the wall unit installation. We moved the install date back and the installer showed up exactly on time and completed the installation as designed. He left the house neat and clean and was very polite. Nice fellow."

"Excellent work. We purchased natural cherry cabinets in shaker style, with the panels made of solid wood rather than veneer. That is more difficult work, as each panel has to be constructed from several planks. Moreover, the clear finish would leave any flaws more visible. Simply put, the doors are beautiful--flawless in both construction and finish. They are similar in quality to custom cherry furniture we own."

"Our project was very professionally executed by Dan and his son. Great job guys! We were very pleased with the attention they both paid to the details that were important to us and the time they spent solving the unique challenges our particular remodel project presented. Our project required removing existing interior walls, building new interior walls, moving/replacing an interior closet door, removing a portion of existing wall to wall carpeting, installing new vinyl plank flooring in its place, and last but not least - within an existing wall, creating a custom snug-fitting, recessed, exactly-flush-mounted television w/sound bar area for us. Reichardt Remodeling fulfilled all the requirements of our project on-time, within budget, and with precision. The finished space is exactly what we need and we're enjoying it very much. Several product and design recommendations made by Dan and his son throughout the project make the space better than we anticipated. We would most definitely hire Reichardt Remodeling again and we certainly recommend them to anyone looking for professionals in the remodeling business."

"We had met with several other contractors before deciding to go with Ramsey Builders.  We were very impressed with Jeff and his expertise especially with the wet room concept.  He explained the Wedi system technology (a German company) that would make our entire bathroom waterproof.  This also allows for using larger floor tiles even in the shower area as it has a linear drain and has the necessary slope built into the floor.  No other contractor had mentioned this concept.  Jeff truly seemed excited to do our renovation.  He prepared a detailed written estimate within several days.  This estimate included ?allowances? for fixtures, cabinets and wall and floor tiles since we had not yet decided on these items.  He also was very upfront that customers should allow for a potential 10-20% increase in the estimate to allow for changes during construction.  This was very good advice and something that all customers should keep in mind no matter who they choose to do the work.  In preparing an estimate the contractor cannot see behind your walls for potential problems and customers change their minds during the process as well.
The demolition started October 31, 2012 and the entire project was completed by December 14, 2012.   There were some minor changes along the way that extended the completion date, but the initial estimate did state 3-6 weeks.
Jeff and his crew were very careful to completely cover our stairs, hallway and bedroom during this process to minimize the dust and dirt.  They would cleanup at the end of each day.  All the workers were always very courteous and respectful of our property.  Jeff also used a plumbing subcontractor, wallboard subcontractor, and painter to assist.  Our initial estimate did not include replacing all the wallboard, but once the demolition started we decided to upgrade the walls with green board to make the walls more waterproof and resist mold and mildew.  Jeff and his crew normally do some plumbing, but again due to the complexity of our design he used a plumber that he has worked with for years.  We were very pleased with all the subcontractor?s personnel and the finished work.
Although Jeff and his employees did most of the work he checked in regularly to be sure things were being done correct.  He is a very detailed person and if something was not right he would get it done right.   We also decided to replace another window later during construction.  He is an excellent carpenter and this was very evident with a custom threshold he made for us as well as the finished moldings etc.
Jeff was very easy to work with and tried to keep us informed of the progress.  At times we would get frustrated with something but Jeff always had a very calming personality to help resolve issues.  If there was one minor complaint to be made it would be about his estimated time of arrival.  We know he always meant well but with multiple jobs going on at the same time it was hard to be exact.
Jeff would provide us with an estimate for any of the changes we wanted during the renovation so we would not be surprised by anything at the end of the construction.
We are extremely pleased with the finished product and would definitely hire Ramsey Builders again for future work as well as to recommend him to others."

"Serge was great! First, he came out and gave us an estimate within a few days. We had several others provide estimates but we chose Cozy Home, and I am glad we did. His price was the best; we felt the others were really overpriced for the kind of job it was. He was very easy to work with, and quickly responsive to communication - a real bonus! Our porch looks great. We plan to hire him for our next project."

"I hired Amresse to help me organize my bedroom, and I am so happy I did. I have a shallow closet with very deep spaces on either side of the closet doors, and those corners acted like black holes for miscellaneous stuff. And I have a lot of stuff. After talking with Amresse about my organizational struggles and tendencies, she came by with a group of very sweet helpers and got to work! With her help we really maximized my space without it feeling cluttered or overwhelming. She really worked with my style to give me a organization system that I know I will be able to keep up with. We went through everything I have in my closet and sorted it and put it in storage bins. Amresse and her team stayed until the project was done and even though the basic structure stayed the same I feel like I have a whole new closet!"

Closets questions, answered by experts

Building custom cabinets or built-in furniture yourself is possible, especially for basic designs, if you have woodworking experience. For a professional result, hiring a service is recommended to ensure precision, high-quality craftsmanship, and superior finishes.

Walk-in closets are always the biggest and can easily be more than 100 square feet. Primary bedroom closets, even if not walk-ins, are the second largest category in most homes and sit between 30 and 80 square feet. Linen closets, utility closets, and built-in closets are smaller and, depending on their usage, tend to be between 10 and 50 square feet.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

Yes, books are typically heavier than clothes, unless you have a collection exclusively of paperbacks or comic books. That’s why packing lots of books warrants careful planning and consideration. Consider packing up your reading collection first to determine whether you need to downsize it before loading it into your moving truck.

A foyer or entryway is typically a formal landing area for guests, located at the primary entrance of a home. It is often more formally decorated and connects directly to the main living space. In contrast, a mudroom is a more casual, utilitarian room, usually leading in from a secondary entrance like a garage or the side or rear of the house. It serves as a space for residents to remove shoes and outerwear to keep mud, dirt, and water out of the main home.
