"We were relieved to learn that we had a blocked drain and not something worse. The owner used a high powered snake to unblock the drain and tested the water flow several times to make sure everything was draining properly. Very grateful that this company responded to our request so quickly! Would absolutely use them again."

"Fixed a leak that was missed by my inspector and badly corroded pipe from my tub drain to the J pipe. I am thankful they came as quick as they did as I was not able to use my shower or tub for a week after moving into my new home (first home buyer). He was professional and did the job as quick as he could and I don't feel he overcharged me. - that was my initial review however after the job I had to hire a contractor who informed me that the job wasn't done properly and he overcharged me by almost $300. When the guy arrived and saw the scope of the job, he called his boss to explain it and that he had two other places to go to that day after mine and he doesn't work past 4:30! This was about 1:30 or 2 at this point, he tried to get the old pipes removed and he did struggle with it and asked if he could come early the next day to finish it. I agreed since I wanted it done correctly and not rushed. Since this was my first home purchase and plumbing job I had no previous knowledge of what was standard or normal and didn't initially feel he overcharged me. My contractor will now have to re do this as it still does drip now and then and apparently isn't done properly! I also asked him to bring back one of the old pipes for evidence against the seller that I might need it and he promised to do that and never did. As a result I will not use this company again and will be contacting them regarding his work once I have more info from my contractor who will charge me additionally to fix it.."

"Prior to moving into our house about 10 years ago, the previous owners had used Advanced Basement Solutions to have an internal french drain, sump pump and vapor barrier installed. As it had been about 10 years which is the average life of a sump pump, we decided it was time to have things checked out. Called and lady who answered was very polite, she actually got my information so the lifetime warranty could be transferred over to us and then said we could schedule a "Healthy Basement Check" and said what all that entailed. She said she would have to check scheduling and get back to me. I got a call back the next day and scheduled it for the following week and gave me a 2 hour window of when they would be out. On the day of the appointment, Chris showed up promptly and I showed him downstairs, he looked everything over and we worked to run a test on the pump which had no issues. He did recommend a high water sensor which said I could pick up myself and did recommend a dehumidifier as we did have a bit higher humidity. He answered all of our questions and we even walked around outside as he saw a couple spot inside with a little dampness and gave us some tips and things to keep an eye on. Best part is I was educated on how the pump works and what to do in the event of an issue and had peace of mind knowing that when it does go, the first pump replacement was covered so the money I spent for the checkup was worth it"

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, drains are one common entry point for water bugs. However, water bugs may enter your home through various locations including doors, windows, pipes, and vents. Water bugs are drawn to the dark and moist atmosphere drains provide, and can easily find their way into your home through sewer drain pipes. You can stop water bugs from entering through drains by regularly cleaning your drains and repairing faulty drainage systems.

As a preventative measure, hydro jetting should be done every one to two years. However, the best practice is to hydro jet your sewer line once per year. The ideal frequency depends on several factors, including the age and condition of your pipes, how prone they are to clogging, how often the sewer line is used, and the type of waste disposed of in the system. If you frequently experience clogs or are unsure, it's best to ask a licensed plumber for a recommendation specific to your plumbing system.

A plumber can get to the bottom of your smelly drain and clean it with specialized jets, hoses, and drain-safe cleaning solutions. It is also smart to call in a plumber if you suspect your drain smell is coming from a stubborn clog or even a leaky pipe.

Plumbers use a variety of tools to help unclog the toughest of drain clogs, but the most common tools they use are drain snakes and augers. They try a plunger or drain snake to start, then move to heavy-duty augers, and finally try using a hydro jetter to blast away the clog with high-pressure water. Hiring a plumber to unclog a drain costs $125 to $300, largely depending on the extent and location of the clog and which of these methods is best for clearing it.

If the drain is frozen, the pipes connecting to the washing machine are likely frozen. If the hot water trick doesn’t also unfreeze the washing machine pipes, you can gently apply heat with a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Start at the end of the pipe closest to the faucet to prevent pressure from building in the pipes, and make sure the faucet is open to drain the water as it melts.
