From start to finish, the team was highly professional, communicative and reliable. They consistently showed up on time, kept me informed throughout the project and were proactive in addressing questions and making any necessary adjustments. "Fabiano was a pleasure to work with. He was punctual when showing up to provide an estimate and to the project itself. He gave me accurate time lines and updates in real time when fixing my deck. After comparing 4 other contractors to replace my deck, Fabiano gave the best quote with no surprises and the estimate was spot on! I would absolutely recommend Fabiano for your next project"

"I hired Richard Noll to power wash and stain my deck. Before arriving Richard asked me about the HOA requirements for the stain. When he arrived, he verified with me the type of stain to use and purchased the stain at Home Depot. He also noticed and showed me that the lattice was pulling away from the deck and a few boards that needed to be nailed down. Richard fixed the deck and completed the deck. The deck looks great! I will hire Richard again. Richard also fixed a toilet for me."

"Frank and his crew were very professional and their work was excellent. The plumbing repair was difficult to get to and required another tool that had to be purchased, but they didn't give up. And the carpentry was perfection! After the carpenters and plumber were finished, Frank stopped by to pick up payment and do a walk through to make sure everything was completed to my satisfaction. I will definitely hire them again for any projects I have."

Customers say: Quick response

"I hired Frank. Frank and his team are true craftsman. They work quickly and cleanly. It was great to find a contractor that knew what they were doing. From the Demo to Remodel everything went super smooth. The bonus is Frank is a great guy, friendly and customer oriented. My highest recommendation for Frank and his workers. You just don't find people like this anymore. I give him ten stars. ***********"

"I would highly recommend Jeffrey for your next carpentry project. The project was to design and build built-in shelves around my existing fireplace, and to make them look like they "have always been there." And Jeffrey did just that! His pricing was excellent for the design, build and installation. His turnaround time was great considering the challenges given by my older home and stone fireplace. He was a pleasure to work with."

"I hired Plymouth Nursery after speaking with several neighbors who recommended this company. I met with John the owner and found him to be very knowledgeable and very professional. I moved into my home in November of 2020 and discovered that when it rained there was a tremendous amount of water that would build up in front of my front t door. John offered several solutions and I elected to address the drainage issue with a French drain solution around the front and side of the house . In addition Plymouth Nursery installed a flag stone porch and walk way with Belgium blocks as a border. Lighting was included in the package as well as new shrubs and plants. The team that worked on my property were very courteous and professional. John checked on the status of his team every day and kept me well informed. The end product exceeded my expectations and my family is very pleased with the final product. I found John to be honest and true to his word. I am very satisfied with Plymouth Nursery and would hire them again in a second . It is difficult to find a reliable contractor who provides detailed scope of work with itemized costs. John was great to work with and his team members cleaned the site every day. I had 3 quotes and Plymouth Nursery was the only contractor who provided an itemized scope of work and a company who I felt comfortable dealing with."

FAQs for carpentry projects in Ardmore, PA

The average cost to hire a woodworker for a project in your home is around $65 per hour, but hourly rates can range from $35 to $250 or more, depending on the experience and skill of the woodworker. Your total woodworking project cost will depend on the complexity of the work, the type of wood, the number of projects, and any other materials your project requires. You could hire a professional woodworker to create everything from a custom cabinet to ornate, unique staircases.

Generally, general contractors charge between $50 and $150 hourly, though not every contractor charges by the hour. If charging based on the project, you can expect a markup of 10% to 20% of the construction cost. You can expect to pay between $300 and $500 daily if charged by the day.

While city and state laws vary on general contractor licensing requirements, hiring an unlicensed general contractor could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local general contractor guidelines for your area.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

Every woodworker has different skills and experience, so we recommend asking the following questions when hiring a woodworker for your project:

  • How long have you been in the woodworking industry?

  • What experience do you have with my type of project?

  • Do you have customer references I can speak with?

  • How long do you expect my project to take?

  • What is my recourse if I have an issue with your work?

  • Do you charge hourly or per project?

  • Will you work on-site or in your own workshop?

  • Does your fee include the necessary post-job clean-up?

While they perform similar tasks, a carpenter is responsible for the woodworking that goes into construction—like framing, installing sheathing, and hanging kitchen cabinets—while a woodworker tackles more intricate and custom projects—like building custom furniture and installing wainscoting. Based on these definitions, most woodworkers can tackle the jobs of a carpenter, but you should always ask about your specific project when choosing a woodworker to ensure they have the necessary skills to tackle the job.
