"From start to finish they came in on Friday and completed by Monday all before the 12. The work is impeccable and I will hire them again. I went from a brown linoleum floor to beautiful white marble tile floor. Also Updating my vanity and toilet. So with a short amount of time I have this beautiful bathroom. What you see now is the before/after brown linoleum floor bathroom to a beautiful updated modern bathroom. Now styling is needed be done and once my larger mirror is put in my upgrade will be completed. So excited on what was done here. We will hire them again. Highly recommend."

Small jobs welcome

"Pitt is a very friendly, flexible, hard working, and detail oriented small business owner. He was very courteous and did a meticulous job replacing a handful of cracked/chipped floor tiles in our kitchen and laundry room. He always arrived on time, got the job done quickly, and let the work areas in better condition than he found them. His work is top notch and his prices are extremely reasonable. It is hard to find good hard working people who do quality work with such at good attitude at a palatable cost. Pitt did all that and so much more. I'm very particular and don't generally write review, but without question, I would hire Pitt again. I liked him and his work so much I asked if he could recommend someone for a different project because I trust him that much. Good guy, good work, fair price, it's as simple as that. Thanks Pitt!"

"Dominic is a soft spoken, quietly efficient tile installer. very clearly thinks through the project at hand - he did three rooms for us - careful with the material, both in handling the product and frugal in use. Cannot recommend him highly enough. Tremendous value for the service we received and the quality of the installation."

Small jobs welcome

"Weeks ago, I hired someone who was supposed to be a professional in tile installation on another site similar to Home Advisor. What I ended up with was a mess (crooked niche, out of aligned tiles, horrible grout work and bad cut tiles. The guy even messed up the mosaic; grout covered the mosaic. He got grout in the paint and painted the walls with the groutty paint). I wasted a lot of money on labor, tile, mosaic and other tiling materials. All of that had to be torn out and put in the garbage. He even admitted in a text message that he was not happy with the work. I found Jon on Home Advisor and I hired him. I have to say, hiring Jon was the best thing. Jon removed the mess the other guy left and he did a phenomenal job of installing tile; fixing the horrible mess the other guy left. Thanks Jon. You are a true professional. I wish I had found you weeks ago."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

If you hire a professional to install a new floor, you can expect to pay between $50 and $75 per hour for labor. It takes two days on average to install a new floor as part of a bathroom remodeling project, but your timeline depends on your bathroom’s size and layout.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

The reasons not to install flooring underneath a bathtub outweigh the benefits. A properly installed bathtub will keep water from reaching the unprotected subfloor underneath. Installing a tub on top of finished flooring can lead to damage and scratches to the new floor. Also, a small leak from a tub drain may be more difficult to notice if finished flooring impedes water drips.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

If you’re out of spacers for your tile installation, you can use pennies. Each time you place a tile, stick the pennies around the edges (on the sides and the corners). Like working with spacers, you’ll want the same amount of space around each tile before they set.
