It took a few days to get him here, but that was ok, since we have another source of heat. Before he left he called to let us know he was on his way. When he arrived, he spread a drop cloth where he planned to walk and work. He and a partner worked on the fireplace for about an hour, and offered some helpful hints on operating and maintaining the fireplace. They got the fireplace and the blower working. They even cleaned the fireplace glass screen for us! Andrew was courteous, friendly and professional. He did not try to up-sell us on anything. He just fixed what needed fixing and got it working correctly. The price he charged was reasonable, and we even got a discount with an Angie's list coupon. We would definitely use him again and highly recommend him! The buyers requested that a specific carpet cleaner at a specific company clean the rugs which we agreed to. The home was professionally cleaned by a service hired by our tenants when they vacated a few days earlier. The windows and rugs were professionally cleaned as requested. We had hired an additional professional housekeeper to touch up after the other professionals had left (window and rug cleaner) to make sure that everything was perfect for the new owners. The buyer's agent arrived while this second housekeeper was on site and gave the housekeeper an additional list of things to clean including taking apart and cleaning the inside of the gas fireplace where the valves were located, vacuuming a cobweb that had formed inside a garage window, mopping spots on the floor left by the carpet cleaner, etc. The housekeeper did as requested. That night, after all the documents had been signed by both the buyers and sellers at the title company, the buyer's agent contacted our agent and stated that the buyers wanted some candle sconces included in the sale. The buyers had seen the sconces the first time they viewed the home and had since been removed, since they were our personal property, hung on the wall, much as a piece of art or wall clock. We agreed to give the buyers one set of the sconces but not the second set as they were an anniversary gift. The agent threatened our agent to pull out of the sale and demanded .both pairs of sconces. Our agent was able to find the same sconces online and resolved the issue. Our agent, as well as other agents we know on a personal basis have declared this last minute demand by the buyer's agent the most bizarre and unreasonable action. I would never recommend this agent based on this experience."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/or/ashland/john-l-scott-ashland-reviews-7878861.htm"},"position":10}]}

On Tuesday 09-29-2020, Joseph came to my home to clean and inspect my fireplace and chimney. The first thing I would like to comment on beyond his obvious knowledge and skill with fireplace tech is that he's also a wonderful and caring person. I could tell that he genuinely cared about me as...
Waited four weeks, called them myself several times and finally got a call back. Uh, that model doesn't have a converter, you have to run it for FIVE HOURS before it will clean out the fumes. Running a gas fireplace for FIVE HOURS - are you kidding? Cleaned it up and sent a bill for $150.

But for a leak that requires a gas fitter or plumber to excavate a pipe in the yard, the cost could rise to $1,500 to $5,000. Keep in mind that gas leaks are very serious issues, so don’t hesitate to contact a plumber or gas line specialist immediately.

Yes, it can be worth installing a gas fireplace, depending on your home heating needs. The cost to install a gas fireplace can be much lower than the cost to install a comparable wood-burning fireplace. The convenience of starting a fire with the flip of a switch and turning it off just as quickly makes a gas fireplace a big time saver over starting and maintaining a wood-fueled fire. A gas fireplace also does not require ash cleanup or frequent chimney cleaning to remove creosote and other buildup that can lead to chimney fires. Gas fireplaces burn and heat much more cleanly than wood fireplaces.
A gas fireplace insert costs about $3,600 to install, on average. The cost to install a gas log insert ranges from about $700 to $6,500, depending on the size, type of insert, how it works, and heating needs. Gas fireplaces need electrical and gas lines installed properly, so hiring a pro is recommended rather than trying to DIY installation.
