"I hired AJ to install an electric range fill kit that I had purchased. He looked at the instuctions and examined the fill kit prior to the visit to install the kit. When he attempted to install the kit, he told me he forgot to bring a metal cutting blade, but would use a grinder to cut the steel piece to the right length. (even though he knew he would need a metal saw and blade) Then he cut one of the pieces too short, and also ruined the paint on the pieces by using the grinder. He proposed filling the gap with silicone and that I buy paint to cover it. I told him I was skeptical, and asked him if he would make it right if we didn't like the result. He looked me in the eye, smiled, and said that he would. The silicone shrunk and looked awful. Painting it would not have helped. I notified AJ that I purchased another fill kit and asked him to contact me to install it. He ghosted me and has not responded. So I had to buy another kit and also pay someone else to cut it. I really regret hiring him, and I'm so disappointed since I liked him and thought he was a trustworthy person."

Think hard before deciding to German schmear your home’s exterior brickwork. If you do not like the look, you are pretty much stuck with it, as it is impossible to remove this finish the way you can remove paint. Not only does this minimize the risk of mold growth, but it also keeps the wallpaper from bubbling or peeling.

You’ll need to wash the walls to remove wallpaper adhesive residue after removal as part of the prep process for painting or rehanging wallpaper. Old adhesive can cause texture issues and prevent paint or wallpaper from adhering properly to the wall’s surface.

To remove pre-pasted wallpaper, you’ll need to wet the wallpaper or steam it to loosen the paste on the back of the wallpaper. Spray the paper with water, then let it soak for 10 to 20 minutes. From there, you should be able to peel off the wallpaper. Then, you may need to follow up with a cleaning solution and a scraper to remove any remaining wallpaper paste on the walls.

Painting over wood paneling is an option that can save you money and time. However, if you go this route, the style and texture of the wood you paint over will still be evident. Painting over paneling is an excellent way to modernize an otherwise outdated aesthetic. Instead of removing wood panels, consider painting them a bright color–like white or ivory.
