"Walter and Glen at Protect Your Home Group with ADT are the best people to talk to in terms of security alarm. Being a locksmith myself I know how important it is to deal with the right people. I referred a lot of customers to them and so far they are happy with their service. I myself got one for my house. Thank you for a consistent service and great deal."

"I had a bit of trouble with my molding around the doors vs how the system was designed. The tech guy hung with me for 39 minutes until it was perfect. I called customer service a couple times after that with questions that came up. The customer service team are professional and knowledgeable."

"We have friends who recently got burglarized and it really shook them up and with our 7 month old in the house we felt like it was time to get a security system. My husband works with technology so he was unimpressed with the capabilities of the old systems like we had in our old house. After looking around at what was out there now based on the TV commercials we had been seeing we knew that we wanted to go with one of the systems that had the home automation features tied into the security system. Especially the door locks and thermostat control. So nice not to have to walk downstairs and make sure if the doors are locked, or to adjust the thermostat. Now we just do it all from our phone from bed! Love that! Anyway, we got Noah's name from a friend that was in a similar situation as us and they gave us his info. After meeting with him, we knew we didn't need to meet with anyone else. Plus the reviews we found on Yelp were fantastic so that helped! The technology he offers is top of the line, provides great protection and is super simple to use. Even the online part! I was a little worried it would be too technical, but it couldn't be easier! We are very happy with our decision and it really does make a difference when my husband has to travel, both he and I feel a lot more secure! Can't buy that kind of piece of mind...well I guess you can actually. ;) Call Omniguard!!"

"JM Smith was great! I have to work all day, but I was able to coordinate an estimate (which was very reasonable) and installation via phone and texts. They kindly removed my barely-held-on gutters and replaced them with new ones in such a way that will last much longer than the previous shoddily-installed ones. They also took care of hauling away the olds ones."

"I would like to let everyone know, Devon knows what he is doing, and wasted no time making me a key for my Truck , that even the Ford dealership could not accomplish. Many companies you call and you fear the worst , expecting add ons or we can't be we charge you anyway. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THOSE TYPES! As a retired tradesman, It is good to see quality workmanship again. Your a good man Devon. Rob"

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Deadbolts are solid and durable as can be, but the pin and tumbler can still be forced open, thus making this type of lock susceptible to picking. Most types of deadbolts are harder to pick than a traditional spring-based lock, though. It requires a specialized lock pick and a tension wrench to align all of the pins, thus unlocking the door.

As with any computer, smart locks can be hacked by someone with the technical skills to do so, but most people do not have that ability, making smart locks relatively safe. If you have any concerns about a compromised smart lock, opt for an encrypted smart lock, change your Wi-Fi password, and make sure that you only give out your password to trusted family and friends.

Keyless locks are often considered safer since they’re protected by passcodes instead of a physical key, making it harder to be picked. However, they are not infallible. And like all electronic devices, outdated models are more prone to problems and safety concerns. If you’ve experienced multiple lockouts in the past year, or your lock is responding slower than usual after you key in the passcode, it might be time to upgrade to a newer one. Even if your lock is working fine, you should still change your access code at least twice a year.

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.

Several types of deadbolts are available, including single-cylinder, double-cylinder, rim, smart, and electronic deadbolt locks. The most common type found in U.S. homes is the single-cylinder deadbolt, which uses a key on the exterior and a thumb turn on the interior. A double-cylinder deadbolt features two locking mechanisms and requires a key to be operated from both the inside and the outside.
