David and his team did an outstanding job in completing our indoor pool addition project. Although the schedule was impacted by covid issues, David persevered and we ended up with a beautiful pool house that exceeds our expectations. He is experienced in all aspects of home construction, including design and planning, and we ended changing our addition plans based on his experienced inputs. David is a clear communicator and open to listening to our change requests, clearly stating the pros and cons but always following through with the homeowners expectations. He is focused on quality and not in taking shortcuts and it is clear that he and his team take pride in their work. We would not hesitate to recommend him and his team for any homebuilding project, including a complex one like an indoor pool.

Excellent job, all contractors took pride in their work, and worked professionally. David Greene worked with us to create a complete finished daylight basement, creating two additional bedrooms, bathroom, laundry room, and large family room within our budget. I would recommend them to anyone.

I will always praise David Green and cannot say enough about him. He took extra steps to get everything done. Even though we had to pay extra out-of-pocket money to get the work finished, his work was beyond satisfactory. He had the manpower to get and get the work done efficiently. The cost was very affordable. He is very polite, cordial, dependable. and rises above all other contractors. Communication is top notch, and he was always stopping by to make sure everything was going smoothly. I feel very fortunate that I pulled his name out of all the options out there. Everything was handcrafted and masterfully done. We love our new living space!

David Green built us a beautiful home and matching pump house. Suggestions he offered to our custom plan made our home even more beautiful than we had hoped for. There were a few glitches along the way, but every time David made sure they were resolved to our satisfaction.

My bathroom floor is sagging because there was not enough support put in to accommodate the weight of a tub and tiled shower. The grout is cracking and coming out between the floor tiles. There is one support beam down the center of the bathroom and now (1 year later) the floor slopes away on either side. After repeated attempts to get him out to fix it, he has refused. Now I have a bathroom with a tub that is unusable for fear of falling through the floor. In addition, the quote stated that one room was to have French doors to the outside. His response was "Oh, I didn't see that". Well since he wrote the quote I find it hard to believe. Now he says it will cost too much to replace and again he won't do the work needed to do the job correctly. For the garage remodel, he used a center beam that was too thick and then when the garage door would only open half way asked if that was going to work for us because he didn't know how to fix it. No, that will not work for us, so he ended up take a notch out of the support beam for the roof. In the contract it stated that we wanted a garage door opener and he bid 800.00 for it. We never received that either and now we can barely lift the 20' door. Dave was very confrontational and cheap on quality. He couldn't understand why we wanted such a nice house and high end fixtures. He was rude and unprofessional. I do not recommend anyone use him if you are looking for a quality contractor. We now have to spend over $5,000 to fix a mistake that could have easily been dealt with when all the floors where ripped up during the remodel. Thanks Dave for ruining my bathroom and costing me extra time and money.
Response from David Green Construction LLC
"I am sorry for the hard feelings this client has. I will address each item one at a time. 1. The job was not $160,000. It was $90,000. 2. I did not work on the underfloor. When you take a car in and they rebuild the motor but the rear end falls out 500 miles later its not the mechanics fault. I did not open the floor to the home. 3. I did make a mistake on the sliding glass door/french door. I was not trying to cheap out. I wrote something on the bid and visualized something else on the job. 4. When the floor failure and door was brought to my attention, I agreed to repair the floor in trade for not having to replace the door. 5. I answer my phone! I do not care who it is I answer. I answered her call and agreed to send a crew out to the home. I did and the client was not there. I called the husband and left a message. He did not return my call. I do not know what happened. I went when I said I would. 6. This work was completed 12/4/14. I truly wish this could have worked out. I did try. Its very expensive to send a crew and not be able to work. dg"

David Green Construction have been a great contractor to work with. This is our first home construction . We knew we were in good hands from day one. Any questions or concerns that we had were answered or resolved within 24-48 hours and if they weren't able to be answered or resolved during that time frame they ensured we knew they were working on the answer. They were all very good at their work and successfully guided us through all different aspects of home building. Absolutely first class site workmanship. The home quality is great. Very were happy with the process from start to finish with David Green Construction and highly recommend them .

David was a man of his word.  His team did excellent work.  He let me know of all problems with supplier (don't ever use George Morlan for supplies; they screw up and delay orders).  He stuck to his word by always keeping one bathroom functional even if this wasn't in the contract.  Yes, he's a bit gruff.  But he delivers quality work.  This is 2nd time I've used him.

Hired this contractor based on Angie's List reviews. Perhaps if you are building a standard structure, you won't have problems. I spent months with a surveyor, an architect and structural engineer to get precisely what I wanted.
David started by having the foundation poured on one level instead of the increments spec'd. Then the framing was done for 8 ft walls instead of 9 ft as spec'd. The electrical work was the worst - the sub didn't seem to look at the plans at all and much of the work had to be redone. I finally had to give up on getting all the switches and outlets placed as they should have been. Plumbing was adequate although David's excuses for piping that was clearly incorrect were unbelievable. The tile work is barely average; some of the tiles are damaged.
I had to be the project manager throughout, checking almost daily for problems. David constantly argued with me about how the architect's plans "wouldn't work" and proceeded to instruct the subs to diverge from the plans.
David's communication skills were negligible. We rarely had warnings when water or electricity would be off, or when work would or wouldn't be done. The order of work also caused problems. One sub would put in something and the next sub would mess it up. I'm still trying to remove clay that was ground into the bathroom floor grout and unknown substances from countertops. I provided pictures for several items I wanted so I expected those things to be used (e.g. LED strips, specific wall switches): those were ignored. Again, David had excuses. My daughter and I both have had experience working with commercial building and contractors both residential and commercial, so we were not inexperienced. The excuses were insulting to both of us.
I never received a detailed accounting of the plumbing work/items ordered. David said he never gets a detailed list from the sub, he just paid what the sub asked! I found this astounding. I did make an accounting error in my building account so one of the last payment checks was rejected by both our banks. I felt that David's level of anger over this was uncalled for. He hadn't even finished the job at this point yet threatened to put a lien on the house, upsetting the rest of my family unnecessarily.
I could not recommend this company, particularly if you want anything out of the ordinary.
Response from David Green Construction LLC
"I will respond to these items 1 at a time. The home is built as per plans. When doing electrical my company requires the future homeowner to do a "walkthrough" with the electrican. This was done to her specifications. She lived on site so she was always checking items. Plumbing: She asked the Architect for a drain to be installed into the utility floor. Great idea. She asked for linoleum flooring. For a drain to properly do its function say when a washer overflows the floor has to be sloped towards the drain. No problem for a slab on grade. No problem for a mudset tile floor. Wood floor with linoleum its not really possible. Thats what we had. I notified the client in writing when the power was to be turned off. All jobs have issues. How you handle the issues defines you as a contractor. I know that myself and my team gave 200% to satisfy this client. the problem arose when she issued me a $50,000 check for the final contract amount. No problems arose during construction. There were still contract overages in the job. We had done 2 final punch lists on the project and had obtained the Certificate of Completion from the county 3 weeks earlier. By contract the money was due. The check she issued was returned. I understand book keeping errors. I do not understand the following though. It took 3 weeks to get 2/3rds of it replaced. Not all of it. I issued checks on her check. It caused me a lot of problems. Problems I will be dealing with for years to come. A subcontractor got nervous because of the situation and filed a lien. Liens are an item of public record. It shows paid but its still there to be questioned for many years. To compound the issue she would not take my calls. She would not answer emails or the door if I went to the site. For lack of communication I felt I did not have a choice in my decision to threaten the use of the legal system. Her son in law intervened and saved the day. We sat down and finally settled up. She was a difficult client. There is no way to make this situation sound good. I asked the client to take down her comment so I would not have to comment about her in public. I try to be a gentleman in all situations. This one may have been the toughest one ever though. Not getting paid would have been better than the situation I had to deal with. Please understand my reputation is important and I work very hard at it. Paying my bills is also very important."

From start to finish David and his crew did an outstanding job. My wife and I couldn't be more pleased with the end result. I only wish Angie's List offered the option of giving A++. The quality and craftsmanship was so far beyond anything we could have hoped for. Pictures coming soon.

I had him come out twice and he did a great job both times. I had a budget to work with and he managed to get really good floors from him supplier and used his designer for the bathroom. It came out really nice. All of his subcontractors were excellent. He had a really good control of the subcontractors and every worked well together. Best of all, he was really great about working without being too noisy since I work out of my home. He also was able to get the work done quickly and was very  clean about the whole process.

It was great! We hired David to fix and complete our addition project consisting of a bedroom and bath to the lower level of our home as well as a nook extension, deck, and paint whole house exterior. We needed this done so that my mother, who has lung cancer among other illnesses, would not have to continue to force herself up the stairs. Our previous contractor was not understanding or delivering and had already exceeded the projected completion time frame by nearly 8 months. David said he could finish the remainder of the project in 30 days and with exception of a couple extra days for the custom shower glass, it was done as stated. David was great and really understood our circumstances and need to get my mother into her new room, unlike the previous contractor. The entire team was great and easy to communicate with. Don, our project lead, would answer all of our questions and provide guidance as needed. It was really refreshing to have someone on site that knew what was going on, able to clearly detail out all the steps taking place, and willing to discuss everything.
David and his team were even thrown quite a few surprises of items that were not complete or done inaccurately by the previous contractor, for one example an exterior wall as well as the ceiling and floor not having any insulation prior to sheetrock being put up. They took care of it for us without delay. In fact, in order to get the entire project complete on time, David had crews here over the weekend as well as in the evenings. This just shows how committed he was at helping me to get my mother into her new room.
The entire project turned out beautiful and my mother is so much more comfortable now. My only wish is that we had hired David sooner or better yet from the beginning. We are so appreciative that David was willing to take on this project.

All went well, When the rain came David had crews here at 0700 to cover up the exposed roof and took care of any water damage from the rain. Crews were fast and efficient in the demo of the house and quickly turn it around to get the house weathered in. Of all the contractors I used he is the only one who gave me a schedule and either met his schedule or beat the schedule which was one of the reasons I chose to work with David. Any changes or unexpected items were easily discussed and included into the project.

Overall the project did not turn out terrible but I had a number of issues along the way.   David did address some of my concerns after I brought them to his attention, which I appreciated, however it was often too late to do anything.    Several times materials used where not what was specified in the contract and I ended up missing a lot of work running back and forth trying to make sure things were being done right.  I think I only met with David once or twice at the house when the project was underway.  The one time I met him he called after he was supposed to be there in the morning to say he couldn't be there until the afternoon and then was late showing up that afternoon.
I made it very clear that there was lead paint on the exterior of our house- you can test the paint with a five dollar kit from any
hardware store.  There are laws governing how to deal with lead paint.  The first day David showed up with his crew they started by ripping out old windows with disregard of any of the precautions that should be taken.  I shouldn?t have written the check that
day.   I asked Dave if he had been trained in lead paint.  He swore he was.  I later looked him up on the state's database  and called CCB and he does not have the proper training.  They did start using tarps (should have been throw away plastic taped to the walls) but not always (like when they drilled all the holes for insulation) and I spent several evenings vacuuming paint chips out of the yard.  I bought his guys a HEPA filter for his shop vac ? but he really should have had a HEPA vacuum not just a shop vac with a hepa filter and I shouldn?t have had to supply a HEPA filter.
The next step was a reroof.  I had old skip sheathing.  My contract said plywood underlayment ? I got OSB.  The OSB underlayment is supposed to have 1/8? gaps for expansion ? printed right on the material.  This was not done.  David told me his guys would run a saw along edges to fix the problem ? it was never done. His guys did switch to plywood halfway through ? I was going to make them rip it all off and put plywood but I told David they could leave the OSB if it at least had the proper expansion and contraction joints.  He told me he used OSB because it wasn?t as smooth and easier for the guys to walk on my steep roof (OSHA requires harnesses which weren?t used).  He claimed his reason wasn?t that it was cheaper ? in fact he told me it costs the
same and I could call Parr ? I know it is cheaper.  He said he never uses OSB on his new homes ? but that it was OK since I had skip sheathing. It was in my contract to use plywood.
The flashing for the windows was improperly installed and the double hung windows weren?t shimmed (stickers on the windows explained the importance of proper shimming).  I mentioned the shimming to David but nothing was done.  My double hung windows are difficult to shut now ? the top always falls down so you have to push up on the top and down on the bottom to get them to lock.  David said his flashing method was ?engineered?.  It made no sense to me and I showed him both the method recommended by tyvek and the instructions for the vycor flashing they used and he made changes to address issues ? but David wouldn?t look at the actual manufacture?s instructions that I wanted followed, he just wanted  to know how I wanted it done.  I wasn?t trying to be a pain, just wanted things installed correctly.
Next was the insulation. I had asked for dense packed cellulose blown into the walls which was specified in the contract.  I stopped by the house at lunch and found them blowing fiberglass ? Dave wasn?t  there to make sure I got what I asked for but later found out his insulation guy didn?t blow cellulose.  David claimed he called around and couldn?t find a cellulose installer ? which is nonsense ? but he should have told me since cellulose was in the contract.  One of the numerous reasons I wanted cellulose (besides cellulose having limited air barrier benefits vs none for fiberglass) is that installers can tell it is installed properly because it is packed dense.   Fiberglass on the other hand is hard to install in an old house because it is so light and fluffy and you can be left with voids or areas packed too dense. My house is balloon framed ? nothing was done to make sure the bottoms
of the bays were properly blocked and sealed. I had several spots I found where the insulation ended up in my crawl
space and basement.  I found bays that had zero insulation.  I was pretty upset at this point and David did have the insulator come back and do more insulating which was good,  but if I hadn?t been proactive I would have ended up with a half insulated house.
I had asked for Hardie siding ? got Cemplank instead.  Cemplank is made by Hardie and looks similar so it wasn?t a big deal.  The Cemplank warranty is 5 years less than Hardie ? so I assume it is less expensive.  I didn?t get to see much of the siding install but there were issues I noticed after it was installed ? and not much can be done about them now.  No starter board was installed at the bottom run of the siding ?again this is in the manufacturers installation instructions.  The two sides of the house were sided first and then the front of the house.  The one side was started a couple inches lower than the other and to make the siding line up at the corners they had to cheat a little on the front of the house ? making the first run of siding in the front look a little crooked.  It will get obscured by the porch railing, but it looked really bad on the front of the porch and had to call David and tell him to redo it ? which they did.
In the bathroom we had a tiled shower ? green board (not code for tile backer in wet area) was installed in parts of the shower - I had to call Dave to get it ripped it out. Cement board was installed on the walls but no waterproof barrier behind it.  When I picked out the tiles with the installers they told me they use a waterproofing called Red Guard over the cement board which I told David.  On another lunch trip home during installation Red Guard was not installed and had to make another phone call ? again, David not there making sure things got done right.  The cement board David?s guys installed had to be removed to install the mud pan liner correctly ? which meant all the blown in insulation in a couple bays fell out.  The tile guys were going to try and stuff it back in ?which doesn?t work.  I had to provide them with some bat insulation to insulate properly ? again David wasn?t there to make sure things were being done right.  The drywall guys put orange peel texture on the bathroom walls ? didn?t ask me about it ? spent a Saturday sanding it off before we painted.  I also am not really completely happy with the mud pan they built ? there is decent size puddle near the drain that never dries.
When it came time for inside trim and final plumbing I took the day off.  The trim guy did not have the right wood ? David had wanted to install MDF but I had him return it and install real wood for 800 bucks extra.  Because he didn?t have wood wide enough the trim guy was just going to wrap my windows and not install sills like the other windows in the house.  I had to make another phone call to make sure one of Dave?s guys got him the right wood.  The cabinet he purchased for me at home depot (which I got charged an overage for) did not have the sink set in the center (not even close) of the hole in the counter top. I showed David and he told me it was glued in and that was that.  I spent an evening ripping it out and resetting it myself.  The hole for the sink was too close to the back splash for the pull rod on the faucet

Our house did not have a separate entry.  The front door opened right into our living room and had two oversized side windows that made us feel like we were living in a fishbowl.  We got David's name off AL and he had a lot of great reviews.  But when he did a "drive by bid" we were a little concerned because we knew there would be roofline issues and were worried about him not knowing our style.  We had two more bids come in, that were much more detailed.  However David was still lower than them and he was ready to start immediately.
We are so pleased with his work.  We now understand the reason why he was able to give such a quick bid was because he has so much job experience he is able to know what a job will really cost.  He was very responsive, and any time we had a concern or issue he quickly resolved it.  His workers were fast and very polite.   We love the finished product and will definitely call David again for future projects.

We started out wanting a covered patio and David was helpful in working through the project.  In the end, we decided on a scaled down project with an improvement/replacement of our existing deck.  David was responsive and flexible with all of our changes in scope.  The project went smoothly including  a mid project change in design.
