"Josh from Extreme Steam was here at our house the very next day after talking with him on the phone to give us an estimate. He was here exactly on time and was so nice and easy to talk to. Today he came out to do the work on our gutters and clean our roof and everything was a mess from all the debris from summer and fall and then the winter snowstorm. He did a great job and is a very hard worker and so pleasant. I would highly recommend him to anyone that needs this kind of work done. It’s so nice to work with someone with such a great work ethic."

"Three people came and did a great job with our house. There were a few things missed, but they were happily corrected. They were fast and efficient. Our house hasn't looked this good in a long time."

"I’ve used Kylie multiple times to clean homes and she’s been amazing every single time! In real estate, it’s so important that a house is spotless before photos and showings, and I know I can count on her to get it done. She’s professional, reliable, communicates well, and does a really thorough job. I also appreciate that she’s usually able to fit me into her schedule on fairly short notice. The homes always look so fresh and clean afterward. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable cleaning service!"

Sonic Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Yes, moss can be dangerous for your roof if left in place to grow without treatment. The moss soaks up and holds moisture. Having a constantly damp roof could lead to problems with rot for the parts of the roof that consist of wood. Additionally, a patch of thick moss may draw insects and birds, which could damage the roof. Thick moss could block the roof’s drainage system. Water then may back up after a rainstorm and cause further damage that could eventually lead to roof repair expenses or the cost of roof replacement.

You may become so frustrated with the look of moss on your roof that you contemplate whether to clean or replace your roof. Fortunately, you don’t have to go as far as replacing it. After cleaning the moss, you can use a chemical solution to keep it away. For further protection, trim branches that overhang the roof, as fallen seed pods and leaves on the roof allow moisture to collect, encouraging moss growth. Consider adding zinc-coated flashing to the roof, too. As rain washes across the zinc, it leaves zinc particles behind that inhibit moss growth.

Vinegar will not damage your roof shingles. Using vinegar to wash your roof is an effective and popular cleaning method for asphalt shingles. You can buy white vinegar with varying concentrations of acetic acid. Typically, 5% is all you need for a good roof cleaning, but if you’ve got stubborn stains or moss you can go as high as 25%.

Roof cleaning can damage shingles if it’s done incorrectly—like with a high-power power washer—but it likely won’t damage your roof if you pay to have an expert do the work. A professional roof cleaner will use a gentle cleaning solution and a cleaning method that matches your roof material to ensure the process doesn’t damage the roof. Some homeowners worry that roof cleaning will shorten the life of their roof by removing shingle particles or protective coatings, but it often extends roof life by removing plants that cause damage and improves your home’s curb appeal simultaneously.

You can rinse your solar panels in some cases. For example, periodically rinsing your solar panels can remove light debris if you live in an agricultural or dusty area. Light dust and dirt won’t affect efficiency much, but they can build up and mix with other debris like animal droppings, leaves, and small sticks.
