Culligan removes water contaminents such as minerals causing hardness, iron and other metals that cause staining and chlorine.

"Two workmen, Austin and James, arrived when they said they would.  Tom the plumber arrived later when he was needed.  The two ripped out the tub and sliding doors of the old shower and took out the three surrounding walls down to the studs.  One of the floor joists had been thinned (weakened) during the original construction of the house to make way for the drain pipe.  They reinforced the joist by adding a 2x8 along the back side of it. Plywood was placed in all the walls with a layer of greenboard over it - the plywood to give the shower grab bars good attachment to the walls.  Extra plywood covered the front wall as it was uncertain where a grab bar was to be placed until one member of the household got home and could make the decision - which was quite late in the process.
All workmen were quite courteous and did not mind a hovering homeowner taking photos and asking questions. They took care of a small spot of "dry" -actually wet - rot and were careful not to damage any plaster outside the area covered by the new shower walls.  They laid down floor coverings from the front door to the bathroom to protect the house floor, and cleaned up everything nicely before they left.  They arrived on time and stayed until the job was done.  It took one day.
Regardless of what they encountered, the whole job was done for the agreed price - no additional charges. We chose a white untextured surface for the walls and we like it.  The quality of the materials and workmanship shows. The only quibble I have is we did not have much choice for a shower valve.  Although the one installed is nice and will do just fine, it lacks an adjustable temperature limiter like we had in the previous valve.
