"I was very impressed by the man that came out to do the job. He discovered that I needed a new light fixture because mine could not be fixed. Had not purchased another one, so he waited until I went to two different stores before I found one that he could install. All this was done within an hour, so I only needed to pay the minimum charge"

"I had a relatively simple job (swapping a light switch for a light timer) that I couldn't do myself due to some "creative" wiring by a past electrician. I called RK and they had Bryan come out a day later. He did an excellent job of reverse-engineering the wiring and installed the light timer for me. He got it all done in an hour. He was very knowledgeable and very pleasant to work with. Be sure to ask for Bryan on your next RK job!"

"Extremely quick response, very thorough and knowledgeable. addressed all non functional landscape lighting, replaced 2 outlets, replaced an outdoor outlet box, and then dealt with an interior outlet that had been badly damaged the evening before.... even though it had not been part of the original job. Alex was the perfect choice for our project and he will be out first call for any future projects"

"Arrived on time. Job done well. Did show up without the right outlet in the truck, so there was a missed communication between scheduler and electrician. He had to run to Home Depot. No issue on my side, bit comms could have been better within the company."

"Gerry completed a never-ending laundry list of electrical related stuff - changed out two exterior outlets, interior outlets, installed a ceiling fan, LED garage light, and moved a light fixture. Heâ s extremely knowledgeable and has an â I got you!â attitude, even when I tacked on more work for him. Super thankful for his expertise and hard work! Would highly recommend!"

"I needed a Tesla charger installed in my garage. They showed up to the house quickly, and were very knowledgeable on what to do and what i needed. They installed it within an hour, with very quality parts, and were very neat and tidy about it too. No issues since install! I definitely would consider them again in the future!"

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Generators run on a variety of fuel types, ranging from natural gas to solar power. Keep in mind that fuel costs varying by type:

  • Natural gas: $2,000–$21,000 per year

  • Liquid propane: $2,000–$21,000 per year

  • Diesel: $3,000–$20,000 per year

  • Gasoline: $500–$3,000 per year

  • Solar generator: $2,000–$25,000 per unit

  • Battery backup: $10,000–$25,000 per unit

If you’re deciding between a solar battery versus a generator for the best backup power solution, you can take a few factors into consideration. Solar batteries are quiet while generators can be quite loud. Generators have a lower up-front cost, but they require fuel and ongoing maintenance while solar batteries are more expensive but don’t have many ongoing costs.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

Costs range from $500 to $2,500, depending on generator type and installation complexity.

Costs depend on generator type, labor, and additional wiring or transfer switch requirements.
