George Anguiano was friendly and communicative during the project, and even promised to come back for a follow-up walkthrough and to seal the concrete or suggest how it should be done if we wanted to do it ourselves to save money, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, after the job was done, he never followed through. Despite multiple calls, texts, and emails over the course of several weeks (even months), we never heard back. The lack of communication and follow-up is really disappointing, especially since we were told those final steps would be part of the service. I would recommend George work if he actually followed up and stood by his word. Ignoring customers after a job is unprofessional and leaves a bad impression, even when the initial work is solid. Continuous feed garbage disposals are the favorite model for many homeowners for a reason. As opposed to batch feed models, add food scraps to the drain whenever the disposal is running. This variety is also typically less expensive, more convenient, and easier to clean.

Your garbage disposal will only affect the health of your septic tank if you’re using it too frequently, or filling it with organic waste that doesn’t fully break down. If the tank fills up with too many solids, the bacteria won’t have enough time to consume it before more is added, which can lead to an overflow in the drain field. Your tank will need to be pumped more frequently with excessive or improper garbage disposal use.

Regular maintenance, such as not disposing of grease or coffee grounds down the sink and routine use of strainers, can prevent clogs.

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.
