"They dropped the materials off and I unfortunately got locked, but they were swift to strip the old roof and installed decking, roofing and exhausts, just before the coldest storm in 7 decades. I was snug as a bug in a rug and I could not be more relieved to have excellent work done so quickly and timely."

"Get a written contract, always get an agreed upon finish date and time, contractors are notorious for having several jobs going on at once and sometimes promise a finish date they can't meet just to get your business. Luckily that was not the case on this job. Work was actually finished earlier."

"Came out and inspected, secured a few loose tiles and resealed around vents . He told me that overall everything looked good, that my deck was "soft" in some areas and gave me a business card in case I needed anything done. Professional and polite. Not pushy"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Ideally, it's best to stain your dock once per year. Applying stain doesn't just keep it looking nice and new; it also helps extend the dock’s lifespan. Since you want to ensure water levels are at their lowest, it's best to have this project done by a professional dock repair service in the cooler autumn or early winter months.

For the longest-lasting exterior paint, consider acrylic or enamel (oil-based) paints. Acrylic paints, including acrylic latex and acrylic enamel, are known for withstanding harsh weather and sun exposure. Enamel-based paints are also one of the most durable options available. While latex paint is common, it typically has a shorter lifespan than acrylic or oil-based options. The paint's finish also affects its durability; a higher gloss finish is generally more durable. For resistance to moisture and cracking, matte and satin finishes can be effective, while a high-gloss acrylic or oil-based paint offers a combination of maximum longevity and durability.

Yes, professionals offer slip-resistant options for added workplace safety.

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

Yes, you can waterproof any wood that has not already been treated. A good way to test this is to splash some water on it. If the water starts to bead up, the wood is treated and most likely doesn’t need another coating.
