"They've installed trim, and also finished up some interior painting that I didn't have time for. I would recommend them to anybody needing similar work done. They're just really professional, and their process was very easy to deal with."

Tipping a handyman is not a requirement or necessarily expected, as they should build a fair wage into the price of the job. However, some people will tip a handyman around $10 to $20 per hour or the equivalent of a day’s pay, depending on the size of the job. But it’s up to your discretion. There are no set rules for tipping a handyman service, but if they did a great job and you’re so inclined to tip, it’s encouraged and will likely be received with thanks.

A tip is not necessary. If you feel that a handyman did a great job for you, the best thing you can do for them is boost their reputation by leaving reviews on as many sites as possible and spreading by word of mouth how good they are. A tip is temporary but a reputation creates a business!

In Tulsa, expansive clay soils cause significant ground movement, leading to leaning or heaving posts that require mailbox repair. High summer humidity also accelerates rust on metal hinges and doors. Additionally, intense UV exposure quickly degrades post coatings, while frequent freeze-thaw cycles cause mortar joints on brick mailboxes to crack. Finally, severe thunderstorms and high winds frequently damage structural posts and dent metal boxes.

Helpful?

Start your spring inspection by checking brick mortar for winter freeze-thaw cracks and ensuring the post remains perfectly vertical. After severe Tulsa storms in early summer, check for hail dents or dislodged brick caps to prevent extensive mailbox repair. In midsummer, inspect paint for UV damage and apply fresh sealant. Finally, repoint any cracked mortar in the fall before the first freeze arrives.

Helpful?

Overwatering your lawn near the post saturates OK clay soils, undermining recent mailbox repair by causing the ground to heave. Hitting the post base with a string trimmer strips protective finishes and invites rot. Piling heavy mulch against a wooden post traps moisture, accelerating decay. Furthermore, neglecting drainage around brick setups allows standing water to erode mortar quickly during heavy spring rains.

Helpful?

In Tulsa, most handyman projects involving structural changes, electrical, plumbing, or HVAC work require permits from the City of Tulsa Permit Center. Only licensed professionals can perform regulated trades, as mandated by the Oklahoma Construction Industries Board. For minor home repairs—like painting or fixture swaps—permits are generally not needed. Always confirm permit requirements with the City of Tulsa before starting your handyman project to ensure compliance.
