"Nick took the time to fully understand what I wanted done and explained how I could achieve that while also keeping my tree healthy. His crew was prompt, thorough and very respectful. I will use him again in the future as it is so hard to find people who do what they say they are going to do."

"AMAZING experience. I would definitely recommend Sawdust Tree Expert. I had a fairly large tree that needed to be removed, they gave me a very fair quote, and did an amazing job. In no time at all the tree was down and all the branches were gone. Absolutely blown away by their professionalism, their attention to details and their work ethics. Not to mention they were pleasant to speak with....I felt very pleased when they were done."

"There were only 3 guys for this project but worked it like pros. They arrived in the morning in, got the oversized cedar tree removed then returned the next day and did the clean up, this was a huge tree. I would definitely hire them again if needed. Very professional and great to work with. Give them your business, youâ ll be glad you did.."

"We hired this company on a Wednesday or Thursday (I canâ t remember exactly) we were told they would come by that weekend. The owner contacted us saying they had a cancellation and came the next day to remove a tree limb and prune two large trees. These guys spent all day at our house and all they left behind was amazing work. They cleaned up every bit of their work mess. Great work ethic, accommodating, and very good prices. I cannot recommend them enough!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Unfortunately, palm tree stumps are one of the most difficult types to remove due to how their roots grow. Unlike other trees, palm tree roots grow horizontally and vertically. Palm tree roots grow as deep as three feet into the ground, although soil and growing conditions could mean they go as far as 50 inches into the earth.

If you want to be able to repurpose the grass in the area where you removed a stump later, you’ll have to dig quite deep—and perhaps wide—to trim away all the roots.

You can shape a cherry tree by trimming vertical branches, dense branches, and intersecting branches. Your personal aesthetic comes into play, as well. If you want to simply thin and shape the tree, you can get away with trimming the aforementioned parts of your cherry tree. If you want to shorten branches, however, consider thinning cuts, which alter the length of the branches while encouraging light penetration, new buds and shoots, and a structurally-sound shape.

Palm tree stumps can take as long as seven to ten years to rot naturally. Whereas some tree stumps rot within a year, palm trees tend to last longer due to their deep root networks. Chemical rotting (described above) can help speed the process up so your palm tree stumps rot in under two months.

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

Whether tree roots will continue to grow after a tree has been cut down depends on the species. Some tree roots will eventually die because they can no longer get nutrients through photosynthesis. However, other species that reproduce through root sprouts can continue to grow and produce new sprouts for seven years or more. For example, the roots of elms, ficus, and willows tend to regrow aggressively, while the roots of pines, oaks, and maples will typically die. To determine if a root system is still active, look for new sprouts on the old trunk, stump, or any exposed roots.
