"Lynn Hicks met with my husband and me about our project to replace our fencing and gate. He fully explained his quote, the quality of wood to be used and what to expect. We like the quality of wood for the fence and the workmanship of his crew. We needed small retaining walls put in to keep soil from eroding under the fence going down the hill in our backyard. Lynn worked with a crew to get that work done. We are very pleased with our fence and retaining walls and highly recommend Fence Masters. The cost is higher than some might expect, but that is due to the high quality of wood used that I expect to last many years."

"This company was very prompt to call us back. We had looked at a color chart online of colors we might like.
Trent showed up with painted samples. I was impressed because I would not have been happy with the colors I thought I liked.
Chose the color and they were very careful in protecting our trees/bushes as well as our neighbors garden on the other side of the fence.
We were very satisfied with the end result.  We do wish that they had left a little touch up stain, but maybe their wasn't any left over.
12 hours after they stained the fence, it rained. A little of it washed off.  No doubt in my mind, that if we called them with a problem, they would be out here.
Very honest and professional and I would recommend them to anyone.
We actually had fencing and gate done by another company and couldn't get that company to do the stain work.
Very thankfful that my daughter found them on Angie's List.
Highly recommend them.

"The resulting fence is very good. I did have a few small issues. First, the crew left a good deal of debris behind for me to clean up (plant detritus, old concrete—apparently earlier fence repairs had left behind debris as well). There was no effort to even organize it into a pile, leaving it spread out on the ground. The crew also left an open fence post hole which I had to fill. Lastly, they forgot to cap all of the steel posts, and I had to call to get that done. It was, however, taken care of promptly. Overall, there just seemed to be some unnecessary sloppiness compared to earlier fence jobs that I have experienced."

"Jared came to our house to look at our property and prepare the estimate.  We had a total of 4 estimates.  He was the only owner that promised to be there during the construction of the fence and not just drop off a crew.  Since we contacted him during the late rainy spring, it took several weeks  to get on his schedule but that was to be expected.   It was worth the wait. The fence was built onsite which was helpful with the slope on our property.  It is a very sturdy 6 ft cedar fence with sturdy gates.  It was done in 2-3 days with all mess cleaned up.  Jared is a professional and his workers are very nice.  I would highly recommend Jared and Prime Fencing.

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

The cost to install a gate varies widely, with a typical range between $1,500 and $7,000. The average cost is around $3,500. However, the final price can be as low as $200 for a simple gate or as high as $12,000 for a large, automated security gate.

Key factors that determine the installation cost include:

  • Gate Material: This is a primary cost factor. Chain-link and vinyl are the most affordable, while wood and PVC are mid-range options. Wrought iron, aluminum, and other metals are the most expensive materials.

  • Automation: Automated gates are significantly more expensive than manual ones because they require motors, sensors, controls, and electrical installation.

  • Size and Type: The dimensions and style of the gate (e.g., swinging vs. sliding) will impact the price.

  • Security Level: Gates with advanced security features will increase the overall cost.

A sliding gate, or a sliding gate door, is a versatile gate system used for various applications. Sliding gate mechanisms allow the gate to move horizontally along a track or guide system when opened or closed. They come in multiple types, including sliding folding gates, telescopic gates, cantilever gates, and track sliding gates. These gates are known for their durability, ease of installation, and user-friendly operation, making them popular for property access and security.

Yes, you can convert manual gates to electric operation. Installing a motor and an opening device from a kit allows you to convert any gate so it can open and close automatically. Be sure to buy the correct type of opener for your gate style. For example, some openers are specific to swinging gates, while others are for sliding gates. Get familiar with your swinging or sliding gate parts before you go shopping to avoid having to return to the store for the correct opener.

A gate shouldn’t be higher or lower than the fence it's attached to. If the gate is lower than the fence, it encourages strangers to peek at your property. If the gate is higher than the fence, it just looks weird. Gates allow for increased security and aesthetics, so ensure the gate rests at the same height as the fence.

For homeowners concerned about security, an electric gate may offer peace of mind. Electric gates will require a code or remote to open, so you don’t have to worry about young children getting out of the yard or someone breaking onto your property by simply swinging open the gate. But because it needs power to operate, installing an electric gate will be more complex and expensive.
