"Contacted "All Day Chimney" service and scheduled a cleaning and inspection for the following week. We were quoted $125 for the service. They arrived near the appointment time and began work. Very good job of protecting house from ash. About 1 hour into the service, the technician "hollered" through the chimney as he was on the roof and told me that this was going to cost in excess of $400 due to it being an oversized chimney and a steep roof. After some discussion, we agreed to a price of $250 and he completed the job. Everything appears to be done properly, but we won't know until next fall/winter when we begin to use our fireplace again. As for the inspection, we were never informed as to the condition, so we can only "guess that it was okay"? After the technician left, and looking from the ground, it appears that the screen on the top of the chimney appears to not have been fully attached to keep rodents and birds out. Only time will tell, once I am able to get on the roof and look for myself."

"I contacted Steve at Texas Roof and Fence last fall to get bids on my house and a rent house that had hail damage.  he was very responsive to those requests and quickly got me a bid.
I'm probably not the easiest customer to do business with and I wasn't thrilled with some of his terms and conditions so he agreed to changes I requested.  I'm not sure why but it took a few months to get his signed agreement back to me.  My impression is Steve has a lot of balls in the air and sometimes thinks he has done something he hasn't.
The roof replacement was done last week.  I am still waiting on the barn roof and gutters which were supposed to be done this week but it's not looking like they will be.
Steve set a high bar and high expectations committing to cleaning up daily which his team didn't do.  He also told me when they cleaned up it would be spotless which it wasn't.   Steve said it was unrealistic to expect they would get more than 99% of the nails, etc.
He may have done better than most roofers would have.  I had high expectations based on the strong reviews he had on Angie's List and in Denton and his representations which fell a little short.  Not sure how much of that is because my expectations were too high and some because his crew or he didn't do what he said they would.

Chimney Caps questions, answered by experts

A range hood is an exhaust fan for your kitchen, and several types and styles exist. They are meant to remove grease, moisture, and fumes from your stove. Although some models filter and recirculate the air, the most effective ones remove the air through a duct that’s vented to the outdoors.

A higher CFM will make the price of your range hood more expensive. It can be challenging to speculate how much the CFM rating affects price, but ductless range hoods—that don’t need as high of a CFM as ducted range hoods—are less expensive than their alternative. On average, ductless hoods cost between $100 and $300, while ducted hoods can cost as much as $1,000.

Smooth galvanized metal ducting is best and safest for venting a hood range. It’s best to avoid flexible and corrugated types of ducting, as these options don’t provide ample airflow and may not meet local code. For specific advice on which type of duct might be best for your kitchen, reach out to a range hood installation professional.

If a range hood has minor issues, the average repair costs $85 to $210. This accounts for both parts and labor. More extensive damage can cost as much as $300 to $500, at which point it may be worth considering completely replacing the range hood.

Typically 1-2 hours, factoring in ductwork and electrical connections.
