"A crew from Groundworks installed eight floor supports and encapsulated our crawl space last week. Jorge, Isaac, Kenny, Zacch, and Anthony did a great job! They worked very long hours to complete our project in a timely fashion and were great to interact with. They identified several plumbing and air duct problems and brought them to my attention. Jorge, the team leader, was great about communicating with me and keeping me well informed. The after job clean-up was very thorough. Worn-out rubber washers or O-rings are some of the most common causes of a leaky tub faucet. These small rubber parts create watertight seals within the faucet. However, they can deteriorate over time because of mineral deposits and water pressure. If you have a cartridge-style faucet, a cracked or damaged cartridge can also be the culprit. Regular use of the handles wears down these faucet parts, and they eventually start allowing water to seep through and create a drip.

Plumbing installation can take a few days to a week, depending on the size and scope of the remodel and the coordination with other trades.

A clawfoot tub's water supply lines and drain pipe are visible above the floor. When the water leaves the bath, it enters the drain pipe, which leads under the floor, before connecting to the main drain pipe leading to the sewer system or septic tank. Some modern clawfoot tubs also feature an overflow hole and pipe to prevent the bath water from spilling out if you overfill it.

That pesky faucet leak can have a few different causes, most of which are standard wear and tear that occurs over time, but that doesn’t make it any less annoying, especially when the energy bill hits:

  • Old washer: A deteriorated washer or gasket is the most common cause of a leak. Luckily, it’s easy and affordable to fix.

  • High water pressure: High water pressure is hard on pipes over time and can cause cracks and leaks, too.

You can remove air from your shower pipes in a few simple steps. Turn off the water at the main water supply and open all the faucets in your home, starting with those closest to the water supply and working away from those. Let the faucets run dry, then flush all the toilets in your home until there is no more water in them. From there, turn the water supply back on and let it flow for 10 to 15 minutes until the sputtering stops. To finish, turn off your faucets and flush your toilets in the reverse order.
