"Nick took the time to fully understand what I wanted done and explained how I could achieve that while also keeping my tree healthy. His crew was prompt, thorough and very respectful. I will use him again in the future as it is so hard to find people who do what they say they are going to do."

"These guys are wonderful. They are so sweet and courteous and also hardworking. They listened to what I was wanting done and made some good suggestions based off their experience and did a fabulous job upon completion. I can’t compare pricing because I’ve never had trees trimmed before but considering how much they had to do and how much they hauled away I would say it was more than a fair price."

"Just the best. Nathan did a superb job! He trimmed a tree and removed a large, dying tree that had fallen from a vacant property into our yard. His work was excellent and his cleanup afterward left my yard immaculate. I would highly recommend Nathan for any tree service you need and I plan on having him do all my tree work from now on."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.

Pruning trees is important for several reasons. It improves tree health and strength by removing dead, diseased, or unwanted branches, which in turn encourages new growth and can help treat disease. For fruit trees, proper pruning can lead to a larger and better-quality harvest. Pruning also enhances safety by removing weak limbs that could break and fall, potentially causing injury or property damage, especially during storms. Beyond these functional benefits, pruning can also improve a tree's appearance. To ensure pruning is done correctly for the tree's long-term health, consider hiring a professional.

Yes, cutting a tree's roots can cause it to fall, particularly if major support roots are severed. In extreme cases, trimming roots can affect the tree's structure and stability. Many crucial roots are located just below the soil's surface. If you make severe cuts to roots more than 2 inches in diameter, you risk impacting the tree's water flow and its ability to withstand severe winds or storms. Even cutting roots less than half an inch in diameter under or outside the tree's canopy can cut off its water supply, causing it to decline, die, and eventually topple.

It could be anywhere from weeks to years for a dead tree to fall. A dead tree falls based on its weight, how it leans, the state of its roots, the state of decay, and what local windstorms are like, among other factors. Since it’s hard to predict the fall’s timing, it’s important to cut down a dead tree quickly and avoid any unpleasant surprises.

If you’re planning on keeping the tree, unless the roots are invasive, there’s no need to remove them, as doing so can cause damage to the tree. If the tree has been cut down and the stump and roots are left, grinding and removing the stump can cause root decay for some species. For other species, the stump and roots will need to be removed to prevent pests, disease, and possible tree regrowth.
