The focus at Polar Bear Jack's Heating and Air Design LLC is for complete customer satisfaction on every job. We believe in offering products and services that we know will give our customers the performance and reliability that we would require for our own homes.

"The guys did not miss a day--they came when they said they were coming. Every day they cleaned up the mess before leaving, including sweeping out the garage (which always has leaves & dirt anyway). All of the guys were friendly and treated our home with respect 100% of the time. They all did their jobs well. There were a couple of specialists and some "worker bees." They answered lots of questions from us as they went along and were not intimidated that we watched what they were doing."

Heating Oil questions, answered by experts

There are several common types of HVAC systems that you may have, including split systems, hybrid HVAC, duct-free systems, packaged heating and air, geothermal heating, or even portable units for heating or cooling. If you aren’t sure which type is in your home or are looking to install something different, you should consult an HVAC pro to determine which option is right for your heating and cooling needs.

The most obvious downside is the high upfront cost of buying and installing one of these systems. Additionally, sometimes the system can take a longer time to heat than alternatives like a boiler. Also, if something goes wrong with the geothermal pump, repairs are often significantly more expensive than repairing traditional, above-ground heat pumps.

Your HVAC manufacturer will give you instructions on how often you should service your system. Have your unit professionally serviced at least once a year when in doubt.

Heat pump systems are different because they provide heating and cooling solutions for your home. In this case, you should have it serviced at least twice a year.

Yes, geothermal heat pumps are worth the money. You can save about 70% on heating costs in the winter and around 50% on cooling costs in the summer with a geothermal heat pump compared to a traditional HVAC system. Over time, your savings on monthly utilities will pay for the cost of the geothermal heat pump installation. If you have an incredibly small yard, however, you may not have enough space for this type of system.

While it's generally safe to stay in a home with a coolant leak if your home is properly ventilated, it's important to have a professional come out to assess the situation right away. You should evacuate your home if you notice any powerful fumes. Additionally, you should leave your home if you are experiencing headaches or dizziness.
