"I waited a year and a half to file this review to be fair about my comments. I was at first put off by the fact that the son came over to give an estimate and he wrote about 15 words and a 16,000 dollar estimate with no description of the equipment or what all was included. He was strongly recommended by a friend so I went ahead and approved heat and air and new ductwork in my old 1954 3 bedroom house. He had an adequate crew to do the work and his father was very friendly. The work was adequate but after the job I found a lot to be desired. They left a lot of debris in the attic like old ductwork for me to remove. At every place they removed my freshly installed attic insulation to install new ducts and return duct they left all the insulation thrown about and nothing covering the areas around the ducts so I had to lowcrawl through the attic under all those ducts and reinstall all that insulation, which at my age (70 yrs old) that was no pleasure I can assure you. "Quick response and kept me updated on status of repair. Have used Aegis twice after follow up for a second opinion. By far best HVAC I’ve used. Fast , effective and only does work that is needed. Aegis will be my first call going forward. Thanks to Michael and his team!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

If your AC runs constantly, it could be due to a number of things, including a faulty thermostat, incorrect temperature settings, or broken equipment. Alternatively, you might have an airflow problem (for example, blocked vents or leaky ductwork). Either way, an HVAC pro can identify the specific problem and fix it for you.

Dry mode positively impacts indoor air quality by reducing excess moisture, which stops the growth of mold and mildew. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, dry mode creates a less hospitable environment for allergens and airborne pathogens, improving overall air quality. However, it's essential to ensure proper ventilation to prevent stale air accumulation.

Your AC might not cool after a power outage because of a tripped circuit breaker, blown fuse, or damage to the compressor or capacitor. If you notice your AC not working after a power outage, in most cases, the breaker has tripped or the system has built-in brownout and blackout protection. Reboot the AC by turning it off at the thermostat, resetting the circuit breaker, and waiting 30 minutes to turn the AC on again.

If you know how to identify supply and return ducts, you’ll find that only the supply ducts will have dampers. Although your return ducts can have dampers, it’s not common. If you have one return duct that is pulling in too much air, adding a damper to it can help with overall system performance. However, dampers on return ducts are not a necessary addition for most homes.

The best way to reduce heat upstairs is to release it by opening a window. Hot air rises, and if you can create some airflow by opening a window upstairs and also one on a lower level, the hot air should be pushed out of the home. Remember that fans pointing out the window do a much better job of circulating air than fans pointing into the home.
