MILO INSULATION proudly produces MILEX™, an innovative natural insulation crafted exclusively from grain Sorghum (commonly known as "Milo"). Using state-of-the-art equipment and a patented production process, our flagship loose-fill insulation product, MILEX™ Thermal MAX®, is made using natural, sustainable, plant-based ingredients and without the use of expensive, potentially harmful polymers. Unlike traditional insulation materials, MILEX™ Thermal MAX® maintains its structure over time, significantly reducing or even eliminating the need for reinsulating. Biodegradable to ISO standards, MILEX™ Thermal MAX® is produced from sustainably-sourced sorghum grain, a renewable agricultural crop grown by local farmers on our nation's high plains. MILEX™ Thermal MAX® provides an environmentally-friendly alternative without compromising quality, performance or cost-effectiveness. MILEX™ Thermal MAX® offers homeowners the perfect, affordable solution to traditional, potentially hazardous insulation products. We feel it's the very best blow-in insulation available anywhere in the world, and we're fully confident you will too... Experience the MILEX™ difference!

"Overall this was a great experience with the company. The sales rep was very helpful and responsive. She worked with me on getting a quote remotely as I was outside their regular service area. The install team was great. They worked quick and were very professional. They also did great explaining what they were going to do as well as cleaning up afterwards. Insulation was installed evenly with no gaps or missed spots. They sectioned off areas that needed it and take pride in their work. The material itself is very unique, light, fluffy, and no dust like with cellulose. It is very easy to move if you need access under it and smells vaguely like breakfast cereal. The effect on how much my heater and AC have needed to run was immediately noticeable. I highly recommend it especially if you have someone in the home with allergies to things like dust."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

If you have blown-in insulation, using an insulation vacuum will quickly and easily suck up all the insulation. Many come with built-in HEPA filters for added safety. While some people suggest breaking up large batts and feeding them into the vacuum, this can expose you to more fiberglass fibers. With batts and rolls, carefully removing them and placing them into garbage bags is a better process.

You don’t need to remove old insulation before adding new insulation. As long as the old insulation is still in good shape—not wet, physically damaged, or moldy—then you can stack new insulation on top of old insulation to get a compounding effect. You can also mix different types of insulation, like adding blown-in insulation around existing fiberglass batt insulation or installing rigid insulation boards over rafters in your attic that already have batt insulation installed. If your existing insulation is very old or damaged, though, you’ll likely see more benefit from removing it and replacing it instead.

You should not put fiberglass insulation in basements, since fiberglass is known to trap mold and mold is more commonly grown and produced in basements. You should also avoid placing insulation near water heaters, oil burners, or other hot appliances. For more information about the best and worst places to install insulation, consider hiring an insulation professional.

Your home's location, budget, and the type of insulation you’re using are just a few of the factors that can help you choose the right insulation. For example, blown-in insulation is typically used in attic spaces, while batts and rolls are ideal for floors and walls. Blown-in insulation is usually a good option if you're adding more insulation to an area that already has some, but not enough.

Traditional clapboard siding, particularly with panels made from wood, is not a significant insulator on its own. However, you can keep your home cooler in summer and warmer with "insulated clapboard siding," which is a type of vinyl clapboard siding with a built-in foam insulation. Consult a local siding contractor to determine whether insulated siding is right for your home.
