"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

Yes, it is generally safe and effective to turn off radiators in unused rooms to save money on heating costs. This practice is especially beneficial with older heating systems. However, you should avoid cranking up the thermostats on the remaining radiators to compensate, as this can lead to higher heating bills and increased wear and tear on your system. While some HVAC specialists argue that modern, efficient boilers are designed to heat the entire home and work best when all radiators are on, turning off radiators in unused spaces still reduces the total amount of hot water your system needs to produce.

Not every type of baseboard heater needs to be bled. Hydronic baseboard heaters need to have air removed at least occasionally, but electric or gas versions that don’t use water at all don’t need to be bled. There are no pipes or valves on these models to worry about, nor any central boiler. Instead, they use heating elements or other methods to supply direct heat to a room.

Once you know where your bleed valves are and how to use them, bleeding out heaters is a quick process. Expect it to take around 10 to 20 minutes, possibly longer if you have a lot of heaters or are still learning how they work. If you have a central bleed valve on your boiler, the process still takes the same amount of time. Make sure you have any keys necessary to turn the bleed valves on. Without bleed valves, the process should take around three hours.

Even if you do everything right, your boiler’s pilot light might not come on. This has a number of possible causes, but the most common is a blocked jet. These jets are small and clog up even with a small amount of debris. You can clean it yourself or hire a pro to replace the component. Other possible causes include a faulty fan and frozen pipes, among others.

It's possible that your oven's gas ignitor will wear out before the rest of the appliance. An ignitor may last about eight years before it needs replacing. In some cases, cleaning the ignitor to remove any built-up food and debris may help to prolong its life. Replacing the ignitor in a gas oven costs an average of $200.
