"We just happened to see a Holman sign posted in a yard so we decided to give them a call. So glad we did they responded quickly and came out to give us a quote. The gentleman that came out was great he really took the time to explain everything and he knew what he was talking about the quote we got was so much better than we had anticipated we booked an appointment then and they were able to get our Pecan tree trimmed and cut down an apple tree that was dying due to a lightning strike. The workers were courteous and efficient they did an excellent job cleaning up afterwards I would highly recommend using their company"

Small jobs welcome

"JJ and his helper, Nia, did a fantastic job of cutting down and removing a very large dead tree from my yard. They took their time to ensure they didn't get hurt and didn't damage my house and swimming pool area. I will be contacting Burlton Landscapes and Tree for any work in my yard that comes up in the future I would gladly recommend them to anyone looking for any type of tree work."

"They were very courteous and got the job done. Very professional and I love the way my yard looks without that koi pond. They also took a bunch of junk around my house. I would hire them again for my next project."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Aside from removing dead or diseased branches, you should prune your trees somewhere between every one and three years. Some people—particularly commercial farmers—prune their apple trees yearly to produce higher yields. This is the best way to promote tree health. That said, the average homeowner can get away with hard-pruning their mature apple tree every other year or every three years.

As a general rule, the protected area should be about 1½ times as wide as the canopy of the tree’s leaves. This digging measurement can vary by tree species and the age of the tree. Of course, that can be a lot of fencing for larger trees, which is why our first step is about making difficult decisions on which trees to save.

Yes, it’s okay to trim low branches on a tree, also known as limbing up or raising the crown. Essentially, you’ll trim the lower third of the tree (trunk) and leave the upper two-thirds of the tree (crown). Arborists recommend trimming 20% of a tree’s leaves per season for two to three seasons. Trimming low branches allows light to flow through the tree, increasing circulation and making the tree stronger and healthier.

Yes, burning wood with Dutch elm disease is a safer way to dispose of it than, say, tossing it in with the rest of your yard waste, which could potentially allow it to spread to healthy trees. But it’s always a good idea to check with your local government to make sure you’re complying with any ordinances about removing diseased trees as well as burning brush piles.

While there is a lot of debate about whether boiling water is strong enough to kill tree roots, it is not best to remove the roots from large, old trees. You may be able to weaken young roots enough to remove them manually, but boiling water will likely not do the trick for large root systems.
