Windows were installed well with minimal damage to surrounding finishes and installers left the areas as clean as they could. Very disappointed the windows were NOT cleaned before the installers left. A small gesture like that would have been very appreciated."

I am the sole employee, who occasionally uses subcontractors, with member’s approval. I am a jack of all trades and can perform most jobs around the house. Some of my handyman services include but are not limited to: flooring repairs and installs, interior and exterior painting, fencing, tree services, carpentry work, lawn and yard work, ceiling fan and fixture installations, appliance repairs, TV wall mounts, ceramic tile, and roof repairs. I am not a licensed contractor, but I can repair and/or replace existing electrical and plumbing needs. The same recommendation applies to painting a stucco house, which should be left in the reliable hands of a professional exterior painter. Inexperienced DIYers can make several critical mistakes during stucco application, such as:

  • Failing to apply sufficiently thick layers for longevity and water resistance

  • Uneven application

  • Uneven texture across the exterior

  • Mixing the stucco improperly, leaving a weak structure

  • Failing to texture properly in between coats, leading to cracking and chipping

Mortar, or masonry mortar, is mainly used in joints and as parging for stone, brick, or cement construction. Stucco is primarily a surface material used as wall coverings. For maintenance, masonry will need repointing or replacing as damage or land shifting occurs, whereas stucco will need patching or refinishing as it tends to crack over time along with other types of wear-and-tear.

The best stucco finish depends on your aesthetic goals and personal preferences. A fine cement-based finish is a crowd favorite because it’s easy to clean and resembles a painted home. Lace finish is another popular one that can conceal imperfections thanks to its detailed lace pattern.
