"Cory and Colton arrived on the time schedule, did a survey on the apartment and quickly started moving the furniture. They were very professional and did the best they could to finish as early as possible."

"

While he was at the home (to do my deck) he showed me where my upper deck was coming away from my house. The deck was literally hanging from a thread to the home. I really think he may have saved our lives. My deck also needed to be painted, I did that job with MUCH help from him. (Not easy to spay Behr Deck over.) I replaced many of the nails with deck screws, his advice. I really think he did a lot of the work (remember he was there to do the tile) He also secured the deck with new 4x4 and jacked the deck up and reattached it to the home. (Did I mention this was a 2nd floor deck and water was coming in behind the deck into the 1st floor wall----this has been repaired)

One more miracle this man accomplished...my A/C TRANE quit running and he was the first to notice it that early Saturday Morning, just  in time for me to get to Tractor Supply to get the correct part to fix it and he took the time to wash all the Cottonwood and grass that build up on the coils. I do wash the A/C units out in the early spring. He did teach me that since I have all those trees I should probably do that more than once a year and the coil cleaner in a can stuff does make a difference.

I did pay him an extra $200 for the work and would had paid more. I think he forgot about the A/C day so I should give him $50 more.

I guess this review makes me sound like a lazy dumb home owner, I thought I really took good care of my home, I guess I do need help. So thank you Mike and yes Thank you Angie List.

Moving questions, answered by experts

There are some household items movers won’t pack, while there are others that are important to keep on your person during the move. Don’t pack the following items:

  • Poisonous, hazardous, flammable, or explosive items, including some cleaners, matches, alcohol, and paint

  • Perishable food items

  • Pets and plants

  • Irreplaceable items and documents, such as your passport, will, and medical records

Once you complete the moving process, you’ll have to transition into paying for your new living expenses, including monthly rent or mortgage payments. You should also consider the cost of property taxes, utilities, and new furnishings for your home.

You should consider hiring professional movers for moves that seem too daunting, dangerous, or involve large, heavy objects. The larger your home and the longer the distance, the more likely you are to need professional help. A moving service can take the hardest tasks off your plate and reduce the risk of personal injury. However, if you are only moving a few light items, you can save money by moving on your own and renting a truck. Keep in mind that a DIY move requires significant planning and time. A hybrid option is also available, where you hire movers just to lift and transport heavy items to your vehicle.

Apartments come with strict regulations about what pets are allowed, so check before you sign a lease. If you have a fish or reptile, wait to move them until everything is set up and you’re ready to do a special move just for them and their aquarium/terrarium.

For a dog or cat, be sure you have a carrier before the move. On moving day, it’s best to designate a “safe room” or even a crate for your pet to help them get used to the new space. Keep everything they need in the safe room, and let them explore the rest of the apartment in their own time.

Yes, it is cheaper to move yourself than to hire professional movers. The average DIY move costs $120 to $2,300, while professionals cost $890 to $2,570 on average or up to $12,000 for the longest distances. While you’ll save on the cost of professional labor with a DIY move, you’ll spend more time and energy packing, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking.
