"Daniel Raymond came out to do our inspection today September 3rd, 2024. What a treat to have a knowledgeable and very friendly inspector to answer our every question. Nothing was rushed and no corners were cut. Thank you so much Daniel for making what should have been a stressful situation into an educational and enjoyable afternoon. Be safe. Update: October 4th, 2024. This was a stress free experience for us. Injection crew came out to take care of the final touches. They were on time, courteous and explained the procedures for each day’s work. Communication was superb and they kept us in the loop every step of the way. Thank you Luke, Chris, Isaac, Jason and J. B. Job complete."

"We are the first time buyer. So didnâ t have much idea about the inspection. We hired A&E home inspection. They are licensed. Andrew helped us in finding many defects present in the newly build house. After the survey he emailed us the PDF copy of the lists of damaged/unpainted areas of the house. Lots of cosmetics defects in the cabinets walls doors window pnes was there, leaking faucets and some of the electricity points were also not working. Andrew and his company helped us in reporting these issues. There charge was quite nominal than other companies. We felt satisfied after hiring A&E Home Inspection. For a new buyer it is really helpful."

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Homeowners usually do not have to update existing systems unless they are doing significant renovations. Consult your local building codes or ask a knowledgeable local contractor for the details.

Generally, no. Most homeowners insurance policies will not cover polybutylene pipes because they are considered defective and high-risk. Damage from these pipes, such as leaks, may not be covered as it often doesn't fall under the category of "sudden and accidental" damage. Some insurance companies may even threaten to terminate a policy if the pipes are not replaced. While you should review your personal policy for specific details, you will most likely need to pay for the pipe replacement yourself. It is advisable to prioritize repiping your home to avoid costly, uncovered water damage.

It depends on the bank and the extent of the issue. Some banks will lend against homes with minor foundation damage, but most won’t if the issue is structural since the home acts as collateral for the mortgage. Banks that offer renovation loans might still finance a home with structural problems. More minor issues like settling cracks and intermittent problems with humidity are unlikely to stop a bank from financing.

To check the water pressure in your house, you’ll need to use a water pressure gauge, which you can purchase at your local hardware store. Locate your outside water spigot and attach the gauge (following the manufacturer’s instructions). Normal home water pressure is between 40 and 80 PSI.

Any unexplained smell in your house should be investigated. However, some home odors are "red flag" worrisome because they pose immediate health and safety risks. Odors should be taken seriously when accompanied by headaches, nausea, or lightheadedness. If you smell an egg-like aroma, this is probably natural gas. You should leave the home immediately, and  contact your gas company.
