"Dalton came over and quoted me and let me know what was going on with the garage door. He gave me two options. I went with the option of replacing all the hardware and mechanisms because I didn't know how old the garage door was. We had moved into the house a few years earlier. I'm glad I did. All the bearings were locked up and worn out. He did a great job and educated me on a lot of things and then recommended how often to lubricate the mechanisms and where. He had great customer service and was thorough and friendly. I would highly recommend C&S Overhead Garage Door services. The price was fair for parts and labor. "What a great company! I used Advance Door Solutions to replace an outdated garage door opener Oct 2024. Your epoxy garage floors will last two to 10 years, depending on foot traffic and maintenance. Clean your floor regularly with a mop or a power washer using a diluted ammonia or degreaser solution. Use five ounces of ammonia per gallon of water or a half-cup of degreaser per gallon of water.

Also, sweep regularly, clean up any spills right away, and install mats in places where you expect the most foot traffic.

While the benefits of garage door screens usually outweigh the downsides, there are some cons to installing one. First off, they can be quite expensive, especially if you’re having a professional install a retracting screen or a custom size screen. Second, they let fresh air and natural light in, but they also don’t provide the same privacy from people in the neighborhood that a solid door does. As you might guess, screens also won’t insulate your garage, so they’re often not usable in colder weather.

You don’t need a garage door opener unless you need or desire the convenience they offer. While you may be able to open some garage doors manually, having a garage door opener makes life a lot easier. There is an exception, though—a motorized opener is an absolute must if you have a two-car garage (or larger), as the door will be too heavy for the average person to lift on their own.

An insulated garage door is a great long-term investment if it’s within your budget. They save energy and give the door year-round usability. In other words, the door pays for itself after a few nasty winters. Most modern garage doors already have a fair amount of insulation, so look into those options if you don’t feel comfortable splurging.

It’s possible to use a torch to melt ice on your garage door, but we don’t recommend it. It’s very easy to bring the flame too close to the door, which can melt the weather stripping or even the garage door itself. You’ll melt ice quickly with a torch, but the damage you’re likely to cause can end up costing you a few hundred dollars to fix, which isn’t worth it. Instead, we recommend pouring hot water over the frozen area or using a less intense heat source, like a hair dryer or space heater.
