Metz Fine Furniture is run by Rick Metz, a sole proprietor with over 34 years of experience in the industry. He is a native to Cincinnati, Ohio. At the young age of five he received his first erector set, and ironically built a chair. Rick comes from a long line of woodcrafters. His love for designing and building furniture was ignited when he was given an opportunity to build custom pieces while employed by A.B. Closson's, a prominent furniture/ art dealer in the Cincinnati area. In 1986 Rick took a major step towards entrepreneurship, and became the sole proprietor of Metz Fine Furniture Repair. There his talents expanded in blending wood color stains and learning to correct problems from damaged wood or recreating a table corner enjoyed by one of his customer's pets. Rick became locally renowned for his talent and expertise. He found himself overwhelmed by business drawn from customer referrals. His work has been featured in numerous magazine and news stations, including Cincinnati Enquirer, Ohio Magazine, Indiana Hill Living, Hyde Park Living, Best of Cincinnati Magazine, WCPO TV, and WXIX TV. [email protected] - EPA LEAD RRP Certified Contractor. Certified Federal Government Contractor. Member - Society for the Protection Ancient Buildings (SPAB) & ASTM International. Full Current Contractor Liability Insurance. Cost Is Determined By The Job. Extensive Formal Training In The Arts, Design, & Trades. After Hour/Emergency/ Weekend/Holiday Services Available.

"From start to finish, Pete and his team made our masonry project an absolute breeze. Pete and his team are prompt, courteous, respectful, trustworthy, and extremely tidy. To top it all off - I'm not sure there is a more knowledgeable professional in the area when it comes to caring for old structures. Pete used the old techniques suitable for our old home that are sure to far outlast the many modern bandaids put in place before we bought the house. Pete was also extremely conscious of our budget. He never tried to recommend work that we didn't absolutely need and finished the job under-budget--all while providing services over and above what he had originally scoped. We are sure to use Pete again in the future."

Rick Metz Fine Furniture Repair and Restoration has been owner operated for the past 33 years. We refinish wood furniture. We will work diligently to complete the project to the clients specifications. Please call us for an estimate today!

"I selected Rick Metz Fine Furniture Repair because he had the most 5 star reviews. And he did not let me down! I had an old cedar chest that was in my mother's family for years and was in pretty rough shape. Rick refinished the lid, touched up the rest of it, put new lacquer over all of it, and it is gorgeous! I was so pleased and he did all of this in about one week. I felt the cost was very reasonable for the job that he did too! I will use him again and recommend him to anyone. Peggy R. in Cincinnati, Ohio"

Furniture Reupholstery questions, answered by experts

It is usually worth repairing leather furniture, as it tends to retain its value, provided you care for the material. A typical repair for leather furniture will cost about $250, which is significantly more affordable than replacing the furniture entirely. Even if you spend toward the upper end of the typical cost range for a full reupholstering—around $4,000—you’ll still save money over replacing it. Of course, the quality of the leather and the piece of furniture matters. Consult a leather repair professional about whether it’s worth repairing your leather furniture.

Not always—heavily worn or broken furniture often isn’t worth repairing or refinishing (if it’s even possible). While some damage can be repaired and some of the visual appeal restored, major flaws, such as structural issues, can’t be fixed as easily. If you still want a cost-saving furniture refinishing project rather than purchasing all new, consider shopping for similar secondhand pieces at thrift stores, garage sales, and estate sales.

Interior and exterior door openings are typically 80 inches high, with openings 29¼ inches wide for interior doors and 35 inches wide for exterior doors. If your couch is smaller than these measurements, it should fit through the door frame.

If your couch is damaged, you are not out of options. You might try fixing it on your own, bring in a furniture repair specialist, or opt to get rid of it responsibly. Depending on its condition, you could donate, sell, recycle, or drop it off at a local scrap facility.

The average time it takes to reupholster a piece of furniture is around eight hours, but it varies significantly based on the piece. A professional can usually reupholster smaller furniture units like dining chairs or small ottomans in two to three hours, while an entire sofa might take several days or up to a week. Antique furniture tends to take longer to reupholster because greater care needs to be taken to preserve the piece. Your timeline might be a bit longer if you need other repairs done, like sanding and refinishing wood components.
