I had an absolutely terrible experience with Widmer’s Area Rug Cleaners. I entrusted them with 2 large area rugs for professional cleaning, and they managed to ruin one of them. When I finally received my rugs back after 6 weeks—far beyond the promised 2-3 weeks—I was horrified to find bright blue spots all over one of the rugs. When I contacted the company about this issue, they had the audacity to claim that these spots were already there before they took my rugs. This is an outright lie. My rugs were in excellent condition, without any blue spots, before I handed them over for cleaning. The delay in returning my rugs and the blatant dishonesty about the damage they caused are unacceptable. I would strongly advise anyone considering using Widmer’s Cleaners for their rugs to look elsewhere. Their lack of professionalism, integrity, and care for their customers' belongings is appalling. Unless you want to risk them being returned in worse condition than when you sent them out.

I am writing this review to ensure that others are aware of the extremely unfortunate and dissatisfactory experience I recently had with Widmer’s Cleaning Service. Let me start by saying that my family and I have been loyal customers of Widmer’s since early 2000’s, including carpet shampooing and drycleaning needs. I recently contracted with them to clean all the carpets in my home. We are unsure if what occurred was due to operator error, equipment malfunction, or both, but after the cleaning, my carpets were left with large black streaks and blotches in them, and an oily residue was left on its surface. I immediately contacted Widmer’s who sent out another representative the next day, who instantly agreed that my rugs looked ruined and that Widmer’s would do whatever was necessary to “make it right”. This gentleman cleaned the carpet for the second time, with a slight improvement, but still not an appropriate result. After a few days, a supervisor came to my home and “assured me Widmer’s would make this right” and cleaned my carpets for the 3rd time, but again not to my satisfaction, and the oily film was still noticeable. I continued to communicate with them, hoping they would make it right as they had indicated. I received a call from the owner of Widmer’s following the third clean who was extremely apologetic, affirmed my dissatisfaction, and informed me that they would do whatever it takes to rectify the situation. Yesterday, Widmer’s contacted me again, to send out even ANOTHER representative. Unfortunately, I was not able to be at home, and my carpets were cleaned for the 4th time, with an industrial cleaner, which I did not authorize! Each time these rugs were cleaned, the color had changed, the integrity of the rugs is now not what it was when the process started, and the residue is still noticeable. The owner of Widmer’s has now informed me that they will do nothing further for me, will not compensate me for permanently impacting the quality of my rugs, and told me some of this is normal wear and tear! To add insult to injury, they promptly cashed my check that I had paid them for their “service”, so in actuality I have compensated them for this fiasco! My concerns are many – my home has been in disarray for quite some time waiting for this situation to be reconciled, my rugs have been forever changed, but more importantly, I counted on the owner of this firm to be a man of his word and to satisfy a customer who has been quite loyal, as he promised he would do. Unfortunately, I have no idea of the long-term impact of this oily substance – I can only assume it has seeped into the fibers and the underlying pad of the carpet, not only nullifying my rug’s original warranty, but also catching dust and dirt even more quickly and then of course, noticeably. I am here to remind you that there are many local, reputable cleaning establishments in the greater Cincinnati area, unfortunately Widmer’s is not one of them. Please do not make the same mistake I did!

"I'm sorry you're not satisfied. We cleaned the entire carpet, and only the areas from heavy soil in the traffic lanes were the only areas that were dark. This clearly showed the carpet still had dirt that wicked from the original cleaning. We came out a second time and it removed more dirt. There is nothing we used that caused an oily feel. I mention that she has a dog, which could cause an oily feel to the carpet. My manager used a safe carpet cleaning product the third time for pet oil even though he couldn't find any evidence of oil in the carpet. All three techs said the blooming or shading in the plush carpet is from traffic wear and not from our cleaning. Sorry we can't buy you new carpet for traffic wear."

The man charged an extra $20. over their special price, because I had stains. Should have said no. Was taken advantage of, so BEWARE!

"Sorry you felt this way. We do charge $20 extra for pet stains or heavy soil since it takes more scrubbing and chemicals to remove. Our prices are in line with and lower than most of our competition."

For sure the worst company that I ever hired a service. I hired their service because I moved to a new home and my wife was coming from a surgery and we needed the house disinfected, carpets cleaned. So I meet their work at the home, left him alone there, asked to call me when he had finished the work so I could go there to lock the house, guess what he never called and after 4 hours I decided go there to check, he never answered the phone and we were still finding a lot of hairs and dirty in our carpet. I called them, they said someone else would come to re do the job but nobody came back to and neither explain why nobody showed up. Completely disgusting their work, if you need a carpet cleaning... one thing... don't go Widmer's Carpet Cleaner, for sure!

GREAT! they redeemed themselves very well. I had ONE bad experience in 15 years and was very unhappy with the way Widmer's addressed it. I finally wrote about it here on A List and it took about 5 seconds for Widmer's to call me and offer JUST what I asked for - an apology and a comp cleaning. Lots of apologies actually. Nick came and did a terrific job, what I am used to from Widmer's. so I'm super happy now. The amount below for carpet clean is low because they comp'd the clean so I just paid for the Teflon protection application

Excellent service! The crew were well prepared and professional. We had a few pet stains that needed special treatment. I wasn’t wildly hopeful that the spots would be completely gone, but the outcome was FABULOUS! The guys were very courteous and dedicated to making sure that the spots were treated. The 10 year old carpeting looks almost new!

The technician was prompt, polite, and did not try to sell me services I did not request. He explained that the microfiber couch could be steam cleaned and would look better than if it were dry cleaned, and the couch looked wonderful when he was finished.
