"It went ok. They were fantastic at first. But the aftermath left unclean lines and we felt they got lazy at the end of the job. Not to mention rude by the end. We asked them to save pur front porch light, so they tossed it into our garage and broke it. The contractor suggested we close up a doorway from our laindry room to kitchen since it can be accessed from the 1/2 bath, this made for cabinet space in the kitchen. Then we all noticed that the washer and dryer would not fit through thr doorway left. He says" a good contractor would have notice that too" then charged us $550 to widen it.

"The project started as we suspected a leak in on of the bathroom bathroom. I Selected Jent's Handyman Services through Angie's list as they had good reviews. Jesse, the owner, stopped-by within a couple of days to discuss the work. At first, Jesse provided a general work description but for my satisfaction, I worked with him through emails & SMS to finalize requirements and get an itemized quote. The work was don in three phases. First, shower system, painting and floor tiles were installed in one bathroom. Second, one small half-bath was fully remodeled. Lastly, granite vanity top was replaced in the first bathroom. Between the work, a number of other small tasks were completed such as installing mail box, weatherization, door painting, installing two external lights & looking at the Lazy Susan, etc. There were three people team who worked the first task (two days) and two persons for the next two, taking a full day for each.
Jesse & his teams were courteous and worked diligently. Working out details & selecting parts before getting a quote from Jent's was helpful in speeding up the work and knowing the expense. I will be using Jent's Handyman Service again in the near future.

"I would hire them again! Travis and James did a fabulous job painting the interior of my home and took great care to protect my new carpet. They definitely went above and beyond from taking down a huge mirror in the master bath to putting up my curtain rod hangers for me after they finished painting. I highly recommend them and give them A+"

"James and his crew work their butts off. Everything was completed as promised. The job took a few extra days because of weather issues, but you can't control the weather. They cleaned the area, put down topsoil and seeded the areas that needed it. I would not hesitate to use them again."

Pole Barn Builders questions, answered by experts

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

The difference between a pole barn and a stick-built barn is in the construction. Large poles in the ground provide support for pole barns. For stick-built barns, 2-by-4 or 2-by-6 lumber (known as sticks) create a frame around load-bearing beams. Stick-built construction is far more popular for residential homes. Pole barns are more cost-effective because they require fewer materials and less labor.

The most common slope, or roof pitch, for a shed is 4:12 or four inches of height for every horizontal foot. For areas that experience heavy snow loads, a steeper roof of 6:12 or 9:12 is best.

The lifespan of a barn is typically 40 to 60 years, but with skillful construction and proper maintenance, it can last up to 100 years. The actual lifespan depends on several factors, including the barn type, materials, usage, and climate. For example, the posts of a pole barn should last 50 years or longer, but if the structure is used for livestock in a rainy climate, it may rot within the first decade. Custom designs with high-end materials tend to last the longest. To get the best estimate for your barn's lifespan, you should consider its material type and intended use.

If you can’t repair and repurpose your shed, it might be possible to sell it, donate it, or salvage parts rather than them just ending up in a landfill. Professional junk removal services will advise you on what can and will be recycled. You may also want to keep some parts to upcycle them for other projects around your home. Turning planks from your memory-filled wooden shed into a coffee table or bed headboard is good for the environment and the soul.
