They manually dug out some gunk from the drain, then used a motorized snake.  At first, the drain wasn't completely clear.  They went to a slightly more powerful snake, and that did the trick.  Took about an hour, and hasn't been a problem since.

The entire process went well.  The workmen were concientious and did a good job.  They took care not to make a mess or damage any plants even though snaking a sewer is inherently dirty work.  I'd use them again for similar work.

They came a the appointed time and cleared all the sewers. It is too early to tell if they accomplished the job (need some heavy rains). Plumbing prices are always a black hole. I think they make up prices as they go.
