" In order to complete to layout design I submitted a drawing of the room as well as a series of photos. The website for Homemade design has a questionaire what helps define your overall tastes in design. I joined Pinterest and started boards for furniture, lighting, bookshelves which were reviewed. Homemade design comes to New York periodically to meet with clients not in the Boston area and this gave us a chance to meet and select furniture and upholstery at the New York Design center. This is an extra charge but well worth it since I was completely overwhelmed. They were extremely patient and guided me through the process. At one point I decided to move the television which turned out to be a bad idea -- they explained why it would not worked and I concurred competely after I understood the reasons. So, they are not afraid to tell you if you going down the wrong road. I live in a New York City townhouse and forget that I do not have a whol lot of space even though my house is huge for NYC. So, I had to be told how to "scale" everything to the space we had to work with, which was helpful I purchased the service several months ago but was not ready to actually decide on the actual purchases until recently. So, the delay in completion is because of my schedule. I now hope to finish everything by September. "
"All went perfectly. We had used Zach's expertise previously in summer to restore our dilapidated paver patio in rear and based on that excellent result, we knew this would go well. It not only went well but quickly - it was completed only days after we'd decided to call Zach about an estimate due to a quickly deteriorating 13 year old concrete entry-walk. They jack-hammered the original out of the way and installed a beautiful curved tumbled-paver walk while taking care not to damage any surrounding landscaping and accent-lights. After using this company twice this year without a hitch, we have no doubt Zach will handle all our future landscape needs with the same attention to detail and overall excellent quality we've come to expect. "I sent the money and dimensions in in November 2011. She responded back very quickly, informed me that she was very busy and wouldn't be able to start on my project for a couple of weeks. I actually responded that that was fine. After a month or so with no contact, i emailed. She emailed right back, apologized and asked for some more measurements. I sent them. Didn't hear anything, when in response to inquiry, she asked again for living room measurements-- that was Feb. 3rd. On Feb. 20th, I emailed and asked for timeline. She responded back the next day with 3 designs asking for my preference. I emailed back on the 22nd of Feb with my preference. On March 16th, I inquired again as to timeline for completion.Two weeks later she sent a concept board with some furnishings. No window coverings or lights were suggested. Three were multiple rugs with no direction of which one for each room. All and all, not a pleasant experience. I suspect I could have gotten better service using Pottery Barn's free design service (especially since most of the furnishings came from there.)"
