"Steve and his son Steve fixed a high number of wall cracks, nail pops, and drywall issues. They were able to complete the job in one day. Very conscientious about cleaning up after themselves. Would recommend them and would use them again."

"A section of mahogany laminate surface on my piano was damaged and chipped by movers. Pete did an excellent job of mending the area with a piece of mahogany cut and fit into the damaged area so that the repair is unnoticeable. Can't ask for any better."

"Shane and team arrived as scheduled to hang walls for a home reno project. He and two team members hung: drywall in three different sizes according to my request/needs, perma base in the shower, and plywood on garage-side walls. Altogether, they hung 800+ sq ft of material in 5 hours while, working around a number of irregular elements. Clean, professional looking work. Will hire them again."

Wall Repair questions, answered by experts

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.

Proper design and construction prevent erosion and add structural stability to landscapes.

Small retaining walls still require a foundation of some kind, typically a concrete footing. This helps to ensure the wall is structurally sound and prevents the ground from shifting over time, especially during those winter freeze/thaw cycles. The footing helps spread the weight of the wall and the load it carries over a larger area of the ground, thus assisting with stability. This is true of small retaining walls, larger rock garden walls, and the like.

To maintain the integrity of your landscape, a retaining wall must be installed if the slope of the angle exceeds 35 degrees. The lean of the wall must be 1 inch per 12 inches in height to disperse the weight of the soil uniformly and guarantee the correct drainage of the soil.

Generally, a railroad tie retaining wall consisting of a single line of ties should be between 3 and 4 feet tall—and the height often tops out at around 6 feet. You can go taller, but you may need additional footings and reinforcements, including a second layer of railroad ties to support the added weight of the soil it’s holding back.
