The warranty for algae-resistant shingles varies by manufacturer, but the industry standard is 25 years for overall shingle durability and lifespan and between 10 and 15 years for algae resistance. Some products come with longer warranties for discoloration of up to 30 years. Check warranty coverage for the shingle and algae protection before deciding on a roofing product.

A roof pitch that’s too shallow won’t shed runoff as quickly, so you have an increased risk of water intrusion through the seams between your roofing materials. In colder climates, snow and ice will accumulate more easily on your roof, which can add enough weight to cause roof collapse and structural damage to your home.

Stripping existing shingles and installing a new shingle roof takes a professional one to two days, and sometimes up to three days for larger roofs.
