"MCRM was a pleasure to work with. I hired MCRM to assess, disassemble and reinstall roughly 200â of vinyl fence recently installed by another company. The previous install was not plumb, level or installed per the fence manufacturers guidelines, thereby jeopardizing any future warranty work. Mark explained what needed done and provided a tiered proposal based on additional items uncovered during the disassembly. Communication was clear, the job site was left in a secure and neat condition each day and I had a clear understanding of scheduling. You shouldn’t leave drywall outside overnight, especially if you live in a wet or humid climate. The moisture from humidity, rain, or other elements can damage the drywall, making it weaker and susceptible to mold growth. Stash any extra drywall in a dry area away from the elements to protect it from moisture.

Before drywall came on the scene, plaster was the material of choice for interior walls. While drywall may be the more cost-effective choice in many cases, plaster may suit your aesthetic preferences better. Plaster walls also tend to last longer than drywall, and are more energy efficient, as plaster has superior insulating properties.

There are several benefits to wet-sanding drywall, but the main perk is that it produces far less dust than dry-sanding. As a result, wet-sanding poses fewer health risks and makes less of a mess in your home. Plus, damp sponges are less abrasive than sandpaper, so there’s a smaller chance of scratching or damaging the drywall paper. Wet-sanding also creates a smoother finish than dry-sanding.

You can take a few steps to save money on drywall installation, even when hiring a professional to do the bulk of the work for you. These ideas include the following:

  • Buy the drywall and other materials yourself to avoid product markup and delivery fees

  • Ask about discounts if you use the same company to tape, spackle, and paint

  • Hire drywall professionals in the winter when demand is the lowest

  • DIY as many parts of the project as possible, like replacing insulation and painting

You can prevent air leaks and sagging by gluing a drywall ceiling. However, not every drywall job is a good fit for Sheetrock adhesive, and many pros say ceilings are one of those cases. When you place them properly, drywall screws make ceiling Sheetrock part of your home’s structural support system. 

Adding glue won’t increase the strength of the drywall, and it can make it much harder for you to remove and replace damaged drywall. Adhesive can bridge gaps, though, and it can keep temperature-controlled air from escaping or entering through the ceilings, making rooms more energy efficient.
