"He has completed a number of jobs at my home. Gutter cleaning was just one of them. He has worked on my awning and secured places where there was open access to birds. Inside he has repaired doors, lighting fixture and the bath tub. Upon completion pictures are shared of work without easy access. I have been pleased with all the improvements. He is professional, knowledgable, prompt and courteous. Will not hesitate to use his services again."

"Nate was exceptional from beginning to end. When I initially called him with a list of 4 'random' items I needed to have looked at (replace fence posts; replace a railroad tie that we have by our driveway; some siding repair & ceiling issues due to a previous leak), he responded within an hour. He came by later that evening on the way home just to look over the jobs and let me know what he would be able to do (everything except the ceiling). He got back to me with an estimate with 2 days and scheduled the work for approximately 3 weeks in advance. His schedule opened up and he came within a week. Even though he had not done siding repair before, it looked incredible! The fence posts were perfect - very sturdy, and he somehow replaced the railroad tie without having to remove the shrubs right next to it. He was extremely responsible, polite & the clean-up was immaculate. I definitely will use his services in the future and refer him to anyone needing Handyman services. There is a reason he has an 'A' rating."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

When deciding to replace or repair your existing fence, consider the 20% rule that fence builders reference. This rule states that if more than 20% of your fence needs repair, you should skip the repair and replace it. Additionally, if your fence is nearing the end of its life, it's often best to replace it.

Repairing the fence is a good option when you have minimal damage or damage from a specific event versus wear and tear. Your fence repair professional can assess the damage and compare the repair price with the cost of a new fence.

Rust, bent panels, loose posts, and broken welds often require repair.

Removing fence posts that are set in concrete is something you can't do by hand. You will need an excavator, a strong post-puller, or a jackhammer. If you plan on recycling the concrete base, you may be able to cut the post out with a jackhammer and then set the new post in the existing base. However, it's usually better to remove both the fence post and concrete together. Due to the weight of concrete, you will need a hydraulic removal tool.

Corrugated metal is a strong, long-lasting material. A corrugated metal fence will typically last several decades, and the metal panels themselves may last for 40 to 60 years. The main thing you should be concerned about is the fence posts. Wood fence posts will last about five years if you purchase them untreated or about 15 years if you treat them after installation. Keep an eye on your posts and look out for insect damage and rot.

If you don’t have a pressure washer or simply don’t want to lug it out of storage, you can spot-clean your wood fence with a garden hose instead. Apply your mild detergent with a soft cloth, scrub with a broom or other soft-bristled brush, and rinse with a garden hose.
