"Chuck was a pleasure to work with. He was very persistent in tracing down a clog in one line. He spent too much time in our attic on a 95 degree day but was determined to find the problem. Our replacement system is now fully functional. I highly recommend Chuck."

"Colin and his team remodeled / built out our 2700 square foot basement. This buildout in our eyes was highly extensive from the large walk in shower to the custom bar designed by a family friend who is a interior designer. This team seemed to breeze through it in 4 weeks which was very surprising given the level of quality we received. We were quoted by several other companies and we choose Apex Construction because of there upfront costing and extreme professionalism. From the site survey to the final day we were happy with our choice. You truly just don't see Company's now a days treat there customers the way they treated us. I would recommend them to anyone."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

Regular cleaning, sealing, and inspections help identify problems early and maintain aesthetics.

A central vacuum system can be a worthwhile investment depending on your needs and budget. While the upfront cost is higher than a traditional vacuum cleaner, it offers significant long-term benefits. These systems can save you time and make cleaning your home easier, as you only need to carry the hose and vacuum head, eliminating the need to lug a heavy unit up and down stairs. They also tend to operate more quietly and can improve indoor air quality. The convenience and performance over many years may make it a valuable addition to your home if you can budget for the initial installation.

Before deciding whether or not to install a central vacuum system, consider the pros and cons to determine if it’s right for you.

Pros

  • Increased suction power

  • Improved air quality

  • Reduced noise pollution

  • Longer lifespan than traditional self-contained vacuum units

Cons

  • Higher upfront installation costs

  • Expensive repairs

  • Requires significant storage space

They’ll use more electricity than the average upright vacuum, but not remarkably more. Most power units plug into a standard 120-volt outlet and don’t have significant power demands. You shouldn’t notice an increase in electricity bills. If you have any specific questions about energy costs, ask your installer as you examine purchase decisions. Larger power units will need more electricity for their suction levels.

If your central vacuum has lost suction, you probably have a clog in the system. You can remove a clog yourself using a portable vacuum cleaner or central vacuum maintenance sheets. Stubborn clogs or damage to the system require a specialized technician to repair.
