"WOW!l drywalling is either done or DONE WELL, no in between. This was DONE WELL !! They were efficient, personable, and professional. Did not rush the drying process, kept an eye on it to make sure it all cured correctly. I did get cheaper quotes to hang and finish, but not by much. We did our homework before we hired them. After speaking with other people and reading the reviews, we went with Simpson. I do not question or regret my decision at all. They will get all off my recommendations if anyone ask if i know who does drywall."

"Jose did an amazing job repairing drywall that I thought would need replaced. The installation and finishing of new drywall as well was done quickly and professionally. He was able to smooth out damaged walls and textured ceilings with exquisite detail which saved me a lot of money and time from not having to buy and replace drywall needlessly. The cost was reasonable for the high quality of the work and the time it took to complete."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Yes, applying a texture can hide minor imperfections and irregularities in drywall, but it will not cover significant damage like nail marks or screw holes. The best texture depends on the size of the flaws. For minor imperfections, popular choices like orange peel, sand, or popcorn texture are effective. For larger imperfections, you may need a more prominent style, such as a knockdown or trowel finish, to conceal them effectively.

Yes, it matters which side of drywall you use. One side is smooth, and the other is rough. The smooth side should be facing outward, toward the room, while the rough side should be hidden and facing the studs and framing of the house. The smooth side will be easier to apply tape, joint compound, and, later, paint to.

It's generally recommended to hang drywall on the ceiling first before moving on to the walls. This sequence allows the ceiling sheets to provide support for the vertical wall sheets. By attaching the ceiling drywall initially, you establish a solid framework to align and attach the wall panels accurately. This method ensures a seamless and sturdy connection between the ceiling and walls, resulting in a more professional finish.

You should wait at least 24 hours for drywall mud to dry before sanding or applying another coat. However, the exact drying time depends on several factors, including the thickness of the application, room temperature, humidity, and the type of compound used. Thicker layers, or projects in high humidity, may require 48 hours or more. Lightweight compounds tend to dry faster than heavier, all-purpose ones. You'll know the mud is ready when it feels completely dry and firm to the touch and has changed to a consistent light color. Sanding too early can cause smudging or gouges, so patience is essential for a smooth finish.

It doesn’t matter which way you lay drywall, and you can choose to install it horizontally or vertically depending on the size of the wall and how tall the ceiling is. It’s easier to lay drywall sheets vertically if you have a taller ceiling, but laying sheets horizontally makes it easier to apply joint compound.
