SMB CONSTRUCTION

I am giving two stars because the initial crew that came out to do the emergency repair did great. They were fast, respectful, and helped take a lot of the stress off of me after a tree fell on my house where part of the tree was actually inside of my house. The problem started after the emergency roof patching. The day the insurance adjuster came out to the house and Bill from SMB came out. Bill said he was going to give me a quote on repairing the tree damage. He asked me if I had a contractor in mind to do the job. I told him I was waiting for the insurance adjuster to make a Decision as to whether they were going to cover it or not. I told him that I wanted to get multiple quotes as I knew several contractors personally. Once I told him that I wasn’t going to go with them without getting quotes from some other contractors he turned around and left. He wouldn’t even give me a business card. When the insurance adjuster showed up he told him that I already have a contractor. I never said that I had a contractor and when I asked why he wouldn’t give me a quote he said “ I am not going to quote the job just so your body can do it off of my estimate”. My girlfriend could not believe he would be so rude so she called him the next day. He told her the same thing. He also told her he would not deal with us (the customers) and would only deal with our insurance company. He was extremely rude to her as well. The feeling I got is that Bill was looking to get the most Money that he could out of the insurance company and do the job as cheaply as possible so that he could keep any extra money that was left. After all was said and done the initial crew did a great job but Bill was extremely rude. This was a $40k plus job. I wasn’t going to go with any company without quotes from other companies. Bill completely ruined SMBs chance at getting this job and was rude to my insurance adjuster as well.

The original estimate was 2 to 3 days, the work started August 31 and was finished October 3 the initial roof leak was repaired and leaked the first night and damaged the new drywall, insulation and exhaust fan that was installed the second roof leak was repaired after a few tries. There were many days where labor was not available that pushed the repairs out to over a month.

Proposals were made in writing specific to job done and were accurate. They came when they said they would. Everything was left clean as though they'd never been here except ceilings were repaired perfectly.

Estimate was given and agreement reached to do work. They were out and started apprx 3 weeks before Christmas. All workers were polite, skilled overall very professional. The work was top notch with no problems. They cleaned the areas everyday when finished for the day. When work was complete a rep came out and went over everything to make sure it was done right. I was very pleased with the work done, the price, and especially the attitude of all the workers. My only disapointment was I called and asked a rep to come back out apprx a week later to give me some advice on something concerning the job. That was 2 weeks ago and they have not returned.
Would I use them agin YES they are a very competent company to do business with.

My experience was awful. We had issues with our roof for years after they completed the job. They took responsibility at first and they would come back to fix things, however, after the first couple years, they would seem really irritated anytime we gave them a call.

Our basement flooded, and our insurance agency recommended SMB to us for our basement repairs. SMB replaced our damaged drywall and trim. After the drywall and trim was replaced, they primed and painted the basement in a color of our choice. The crew was very prompt, worked quickly and professionally. They did a great job getting our basement back to the way it was before the flood.

This company did an excellent job in the cleaning up of the basement. They are conscientious in doing their work and were prompt. A supervisor came out every day to see that the men did a good job.
