"Jerry was professional and took the project that others thought it was minor and would not. He delivered my butcher block countertops and refaced my cabinet doors. What a magnificent change to my kitchen. His work is excellent. I would highly recommend this contractor for your cabinet and woodworking."

Customers say: Quick response

"So we had a custom entertainment center built. We initially were gonna use a California closet type of business but wanted real wood not laminates. He met with us quickly and got a plan together. The process took about 8 weeks from first meeting to being completed but this was during the Xmas season. He kept in touch and kept us updated. He brought the finished product in to the house and installed it over 1.5 days. The quality was top notch. The painting of the product actually looks flawless. Very happy and impressed. Cost was very reasonable compared to laminate and non wood products.i would submit pictures but some reason it s not offering that option."

"Denis Mullaney is as meticulous as I would be if I were doing the work myself, and that is saying a lot (if I may say so, myself !). He is honest about what he can and cannot do, but as a handyman, he seems quite capable to do everything I have needed him to do so far (moved electrical outlets, patched drywall holes, installed cabinets on uneven walls/floors in my old Cleveland Heights home). He will be re-installing baseboard and chair rail molding, and hooking up a water line to my fridge - I anticipate the same level of expertise. Denis was willing to work on a time and materials basis, whereas most of the other handyman services were not willing to do so (they insisted on bidding the whole job at one single price, which I do NOT like at all). While it has not been a problem, Denis arrived later than he said he would more than once, so I felt obliged to give him a B grade on punctuality, but I would have used B+ or A- if they were available. Life happens, and he has a very good work ethic, so I will definitely use his services for other projects, with no hesitation.

Cabinet Making questions, answered by experts

Like nearly any other upgrade, new and improved kitchen cabinets can increase your property value and make your home more attractive to potential buyers. After all, the majority of home buyers consider the kitchen to be one of the most important rooms in the house. New melamine cabinets can be a big plus, particularly if you select a classic wood grain or another light neutral color that provides a blank slate for other design elements.

It is generally more cost-effective to purchase stock or semi-custom cabinets than to have them custom-built. The best option depends on your budget and customization needs.

Here is a breakdown of the average costs per linear foot:

  • Custom Cabinets: $500 to $1,200. The final price is influenced by factors like materials, size, and design complexity. For example, a basic slab cabinet door might cost $60 to $70 for materials, while a more intricate mullioned glass inset panel door can range from $100 to $200 per door.

  • Semi-Custom Cabinets: $150 to $700.

  • Stock Cabinets: $100 to $400. These are pre-built and the most affordable option, but they offer limited customization and may not be suitable for rooms with unusual shapes or high ceilings.

The cost to install a kitchen island can range from $900 to $6,500, with an average price of around $4,800 for most homeowners. The final cost depends on whether you choose a prefabricated or custom-built option. It is generally cheaper to buy a prefabricated island than to build one from scratch. A budget-friendly prefabricated cart can cost between $150 and $900, while a permanent prefabricated stationary island costs from $900 to $5,000. Custom-built kitchen islands average $4,800 but can cost $10,000 or more, depending on factors like materials, size, design complexity, and accessibility.

Typically, a medicine cabinet should be installed about 60 to 72 inches above the floor. This height ensures that it's easily accessible for most individuals while allowing for proper visibility and convenience. However, the ideal height may vary based on individual preferences and the average eye level of the users in your household.

Using a shim or another type of self-leveling feet on the bottom edge of your cabinet bases will help to level them out if you’re installing them on a less-than-level surface. To make this process easier, you can add your shims before attaching the bases to your cabinets while they’re still light and easy to move around.
