DK Tractor and Grading Services started in August of 2020, when DK saw a need in the construction industry that looked after customer’s needs, didn’t take advantage of the customers, and did a great job at the same time for them. In March of 2021, DK’s Tractor and Grading Services purchased its first piece of equipment after realizing the need that had to be met in the following 2021 season. Year after year DK’s Tractor and Grading Services has expanded to be where it is today and still working to be a household name. where ever.... whenever there’s a project to be done we hope your first thought is DK’s Tractor and Grading Services has it handled.

Excavating questions, answered by experts

The rules and regulations regarding groundwater use vary between states. To find out if you can dig a well on your property, you’ll have to consult these regulations, address any compliance requirements, and get the appropriate permits. It’s also important to check that your intended location has the right geology and water table to support a well.

Most residential basements are 8 to 10 feet deep. You can dig deeper depending on building codes, but it does become more difficult. You’ll likely need to install stronger foundation walls and additional supports to handle the increased load. Depending on the water table, you may also need a water management system. Clay soil can support a deeper foundation than sandy soil. A structural engineer will be able to tell you the maximum, feasible depth.

Hard soil could be a sign of overly dry dirt, either from poor drainage or drought. It's important to test the nutrient levels, density, and drainage capacity of your soil to see if it's absorbing water properly. Begin by adding a light layer of water and observing how long the soil retains moisture. If you experience a good deal of runoff, you may need to aerate your lawn, apply a wetting agent, or hire a professional for a closer look.

Some two-in-one tools and machines do both jobs, and those could be the right solution for smaller residential projects. However, the phrase “use the right tool for the job” definitely applies to digging. For the best results, get two separate tools for your trenching and landscape edging projects or call a pro to take care of everything for you.

On average, you’re looking at about 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet. Your actual work time will come down to how many twists and turns there are when digging—such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and whether the ground is frozen.
