I bought this deal because I wanted to get some outside ideas about remodeling my kitchen at a reasonable cost. They were very nice during the consultation - we discussed both high and low end options and in the end I received a baseline plan and a more detailed plan which included expanding the overall room size. I was very pleased with some of the interesting ideas that they came up with and when I'm ready to do the work I will call them again for an up-to-date estimate.

They were great to use, their pricing was fine, and the job was done very well. He listened to what we wanted and did what we asked him to do.

Everything went smoothly. After looking at them, he said the sealing was faulty and the builder should replace them without charge. I had received a $1500 bid from another remodeler before Danny. Our builder (house was 12 years old) and the window representative checked the windows and agreed to relace the leaking ones. Danny saved me from the cost of replacement but he did return to paint all the trim. He knows how to build so he knew what the problem was. He is dependable, honest, and trustworthy.

It really went well. Everything was done to the pre-approved budget and the work was completed within 5 weeks, which was his original time estimate. All workers (a total of three, at times) were friendly and easy to work with. On our first meeting with Danny Walker, he gave us his State of Ohio Incorporation document, his liability insurance cert, Workers Comp cert and a reference list which included 20 previous customers. I called three of his references and was given s good report from all three. They were also clean and neat and cleaned up at the end of each days work. This was just a great experience.

Danny Walker gave an excellent presentation. He asked for our input. Very willing to negotiate & submitted several versions of proposal. Had many good ideas for remodeling. Worked steadily, everyday as much as possible and was very professional. He and workers were prompt, reliable and pleasant. House was kept CLEAN, CLEAN,CLEAN. They always used drop cloths, etc. When they left, you would never realize remodeling was being done. They shut bathroom door, all materials placed inside. This is a great plus! Very trustworthy, kept us informed and helped us with our choices. Looks aesthetically pleasing. We were not limited to purchasing materials from his suppliers. In summary very pleased, no issues. We have received multiple compliments.

They did a fantastic job. They used good materials. We are pleased with the end results. We would recommend them to others. They were very cooperative with any questions I had and helping me make some decisions. They were trustworthy to have in my home even when I was not here and they were very professional.

I can't imagine a worse experience. Mr. Walker said he would do the work himself, except for using a laborer to do some of the demolition. He estimated 3-4 weeks to finish the job. It took NINE WEEKS. Mr. Walker was often not present and was working on other jobs or dealing with personal stuff. Sometimes he said he would show up but nobody came, or just his worker showed up. His worker, who was pleasant and professional, was given jobs that were beyond his expertise. For example, he installed wall tiles that ended up uneven and scratched. Mr. Walker yelled at him... While they hammered on the walls to remove tile and fixtures, the plaster cracked on the walls of three adjacent rooms. They repaired them, which added time to the job. The vinyl windows were crooked when they were installed. The floor tiles didn't line up with the baseboard tiles. They installed a glass block wall for the shower that was scratched, so they had to remove and replace it. They installed a cabinet incorrectly and had to move it and repair the wall. He underestimated how much tile was needed. When we pointed out these problems, he had a hostile attitude and acted belligerently. Once he even called my wife a profane name when he thought she was out of earshot. Didn't even bother to apologize when we called him on it. At the end of the job, everything looked fine, except for some drips on the wall because the paint was applied too thickly.. But Mr. Walker apparently had trouble with simple math and insisted that I owed over $1000 more than we actually owed him. I had to sit down with a spreadsheet and go over it twice with him before he saw he was mistaken. They left scrap, old insulation, and other materials behind, even though the contract specified they would remove them. The finishing touch was when a toilet paper holder's wall anchor came out of the wall a month after the job was done and Mr. Walker told me "somebody pushed on it and broke it, that's not warranty work" (the contract specified three years warranty on labor). UPDATE: Soon after I wrote the above, the shower began leaking through the ceiling below. Mr. Walker came out with a fiberoptic camera to look under the shower stall and said, "It's not my fault--it wasn't caused by anything I did." He told his insurance company the same thing. However, he was wrong. Opening up the wet ceiling below revealed leaks in the shower pan which he built from his chosen materials and installed. There were no leaks from the old plumbing that he didn't work on. We are pursuing this matter through all available means. As to Mr. Walker's response, he installed **scratched** tiles, installed tiles at corners that were cut grossly wrong. Although he **says** he reset the crookedly installed tiles "with many of the same results," nope it's not true. He redid them when we insisted on it, and they are now fine, which should have been the case the first time around. Finally, in reference to his complaint that "it's no way to make a living" when a job takes three times longer than promised, he (with 21 years experience) estimated the length of time it would take, got it grossly wrong, and was here about 1/3 of the total work days of nine weeks.
Response from Valley Renovations LLC
"I counld't agree more that in 21 years in the construction business, this was my worst experience too. The project did take 9 weeks which is no way to make a living. Some health issues with myself did arise , making me absent a total of 6 days. Someone was always present at the Member's residence, and there were no other projects being worked on. The Members had extremely high expectations. Never having work done like this before they assumed everything was going to be perfect. Nothing in this world is perfect. During demolition cracks in the plaster walls did occur and we repaired them. I set 12"x24" glazed tiles over 85 year old walls. Setting 24" tiles, edges are not going to be absolutley perfect. I replaced tiles and ended up with the many of the same results. The windows I installed were perfectly level. They were installed in 85 year old out of level frames which made a height difference of 1/8". When doing tile layout, good pratice is to eliminate small tiles. My installation was done the correct way and they didn't like it so it was redone their way. Cabinets were installed at the standard height of 54" from the floor. This was unsatisfactory for the Members so they were installed at the height they preferred. The list continues on. Inspections from the Members were done daily. On warranty issues, labor on items purchased by the homeowners that were abused or used improperly is not covered. My ultimate goal is to make the customer happy with their project. I do know when we finished their job the Member said, " it looks absolutely gorgeous" and "it's perfect"."

The project began in April 2009 and immediately Valley Renovations was faced with structural challenges that an older home provides; huge steel beams that ran through the ceiling of the old garage, electrical that was not to code, the need to find a space for a new furnace (in a tiny existing basement), etc. Basically the job went very smoothly, especially as Valley Renovations kept us informed as to any delays and reasons for this. Communication was key in the project and it was provided. There was a lull in August as we waited for cabinets and granite - I was unable to make up my mind so I slowed down the project! Danny helped us to make many decorative decisions (tile, floor etc.) - a difficulty for us as homeowners and the end result is beautiful!

Valley Renovations hired excavating company to do the actual excavation with Valley Renovations present at all times to oversee the progress. Valley Renovations did all other work. The only hitch was when the support beams arrived and were the wrong size, Valley Renovations swallowed the cost. The garage created some challenges, especially with the foundation work. Danny Walker kept us appraised of everything that was occurring, yet never alarmed us to any problems. As homeowners it was a painless process.

Excellent initial presentation and very professional. Presented us with literature and samples, willing to negotiate price and had good ideas for remodeling. Worked steadily, every day as much as possible, always prompt, very reliable, pleasant, non-invasive, took precautions to keep house clean (drop cloths, etc. Other workers, especially Pete, also, polite, conscientious, prompt and all very trustworthy.) Kept us informed on progress. Offered suggestions, helpful in helping with our choices, worked hard to get us just what we wanted. High quality of workmanship, great aesthetic sense, willing to change and extremely conscientious. Great final outcome!

They did a beautiful job. They did a really high-end job, so the price was higher, but we got very high quality work.

The whole process was excellent, if not a little bit overwhelming. Danny came to the house to view what was already installed in the bathroom. When we explained what we were trying to do, he was able to offer many useful suggestions and helped us sort a plan. Once we decided to proceed, he provided us with materials and contacts at local vendors to pick out the fixtures and tile. He took care of all of the details, and even anticipated a few extras that we had not thought about. The installation took a few days and went very smoothly, and once it was done, everything was cleaned up. There was a problem during the installation where a leak ruined some of the ceiling on the floor below, but they repaired the damage and I think it looks better than before. Recently, I discovered an issue with some of the grout due to settling. This caused a small amount of seepage from the shower onto the bathroom floor. I contacted Danny and he was at my place to take care of it the next day! I couldn't be happier with the result!

The work was done with high level craftsmanship and attention to detail. When they found that the plumbing had been buried in 6 inches of concrete and then crushed, they knew how to fix it and did so. When they left the entire job had been thoroughly inspected and all touch-ups had been completed. The men were professional, friendly, considerate and a pleasure to have around during the project.
